Outline BJS topic Human trafficking Human trafficking is by far the worst crime to commit, several definitions include Peonage, slavery, forced labor, sex trafficking, and other related offenses are among the laws in the United States that describe human trafficking offenses; Also included is transportation for illicit sexual conduct and similar offenses, as well as sexual exploitation and other mistreatment of minors. State and local authorities classify charges related to human trafficking differently. human trafficking charges conform to Several data collections, such as those on victim support providers, law enforcement, prosecution and adjudication, and corrections, this is how BJS gets information on human trafficking. Every data collection contains information that helps paint a broad picture of human trafficking in the US. Due to various definitions of human trafficking, different data sources, and other factors, there are some discrepancies amongst collections. With this report provides the most recent statistical findings and details the BJS data collection and activities, which encompass a variety of offenses that fall under the umbrella of human trafficking. The Bjs uses various resources to collect data, one method used gathers information based on NIBRS (national incident-based reporting system). The location and time of the incident, the number of related victims and offenders, the victims' demographics, and the presence or absence of a weapon are all recorded by NIBRS for every incident. If an arrest was made in relation to the incident, that information is also available on NIBRS.
Soc337_28293 Soul Muntean Another data collection is when BJS requests case-level data extracts from state court case management systems via the CCSC. The case-level data encompasses comprehensive details regarding the issue before the court, such as the defendant's demographics, type of legal representation, and charges brought against them at the time of filing and disposition, case adjudication status, and, if applicable, the sentence imposed. Numerous inquiries concerning the operations of state courts and the administration of justice in such organizations can be addressed by the comprehensive data. when defendants are accused of human trafficking it will also fall under the FJSP subject of statistical data compilation by the Federal Justice Statistics Program (FJSP) at all levels of the federal criminal justice system. The U.S. Marshals Service, Drug Enforcement Administration, Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts, Executive Office for U.S. Attorneys, Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP), and U.S. Sentencing Commission are the six federal justice agencies from which the Federal Justice System (FJSP) gathers, standardizes, and reports on administrative data. In the fiscal year 2011 to 2021, there was a rise in the number of people who were under investigation into and charged with crimes related to human trafficking. In fiscal year 2021, 2,027 individuals were referred to U.S. attorneys for human trafficking offenses; this represents a 49% increase from the 1,360 individuals referred in 2011. Between 2011 and 2021, there were more than twice as many people prosecuted for human trafficking (from 729 to 1,672 individuals, respectively). From 464 in 2011 to 809 in 2021, more people were found guilty of crimes related to human trafficking. This number is horrifyingly increases each year, with data

The three programs I picked are as follows; lab research partnership program, domestic and international terrorism and lastly student internship programs. The FBIs goal of the Research Partnership Program is to work in conjunction with State and local forensic labs when their research needs coincide with those of the FBI Lab in order to optimize the impact of monies allocated to research and development. Through cooperative research and development, testing, and validation studies, one objective of the program is to improve the transfer of novel forensic technologies and techniques to case-working examiners at State and local forensic labs. Facilitating the application of scientific working group methods is the second objective. Encouraging the creation of national forensic databases is the third objective. I think the FBI dose the research program very well, it brings in law enforcement working hand and hand with them this can solve cases a lot faster. Next is the domestic and international terrorism program. This program actively seeks and prevents or stop domestic and international terrorism. The FBI is great for working in the domestic side of things while the CIA dose most of the international terrorism of things. I think this program is a necessity it helps protect civilians from a potential error attack. The last program is student internships and training program. The FBI has partnered up with multiple campuses in the USA, it allows for college students to start right away to become a special agent. It also offers certain types of training depending on the route the person takes.

Soc337_28293 Soul Muntean 3.) New York Times published an article called the root cause of violent crime is not what we think is. The article in summary talks about the cause of violent crimes. Ones mindset can change in an instant if under the influence, there’s people with mental illness, and the environment people grew up in. The article talks about how politicians only look after themselves and most of them care about money. I think working with law enforcement is a great idea as they have the equipment to track down violent offenders It is important to address the cause of violence. 4.) Two of the most popular approaches in research methodology are positivism and interpretivism. But what are the true meanings of these terms? The philosophical perspective of positivism places a strong emphasis on the value of empirical data and scientific methodologies. This indicates that positivists hold that experimentation and observation are the only ways in which knowledge can be acquired. Conversely, interpretivism is a philosophical perspective that highlights the significance of comprehending people's subjective experiences and meanings. This indicates that interpretivists hold that the only way to acquire knowledge is by interpreting and analyzing the experiences and interactions of people.
