1. What is morality? The standards by which we judge actions as good or evil. 2. What is moral law? The standards of human behavior established by God and taught by the Church. 3. What is objective morality? A conscience formed according to the teachings of Christ. A morality rooted in the fundamental dignity of the human person and the sacredness of human life. 4. What is subjective morality? Also called moral relativism. A morality that can vary from situation to situation and from one personal opinion to another. 5. What is moral theology? The study of the principles and actions revealed by Jesus Christ and taught by the Church. This includes the natural law. 6. What does Divine Revelation and the moral teachings of the Church reflect? They reflect the natural law. 7. What is the natural law? It is the objective order established by God that enables man to use reason to discern the good and the evil, the truth and the lie.
8. What does Catholic moral teaching show us? Catholic moral teaching shows us how we can best reflect our love for God and neighbor through our thoughts, words, and deeds 9. The Ten Commandments The Mosaic Law. These were the basic guidelines governing every aspect of human conduct and directives on the pursuit of moral good and the avoidance of evil. 10. The Beatitudes The perfection of the moral law and a divine mandate for proper moral conduct. These are directives aimed at the human spirit enabling us to have a heart that is capable of loving as God loves. 11. What is Saint Anselm’s definition of Theology. “Faith seeking understanding”. 12. What is the definition of Faith in the Letter to the Hebrews? “Faith is the realization of what is hoped for and evidence of things not seen” .
