Compare your motivations to behave ethically with those listed in Figure 7-14. Do the reasons given in that figure agree with your personal assessment? Discuss the similarities and differences between Figure 7-14 and your personal assessment. The motivation for my ethical conduct is not contingent upon the benefits I may get from others, but rather on the rewards I might attain by responsible behavior. I prioritize engaging in morally upright behavior since it instills a sense of personal satisfaction derived from adhering to a decent upbringing. My inclination is to prioritize ethical conduct by virtue of the belief that it is essential to provide people with dignity and respect, while deeming it inappropriate to disregard the emotions and opinions of others. For instance, I would like to abstain from entering a queue including persons who have endured a prolonged waiting period, hence leading me to refrain from doing so. From a legal perspective, I am inclined to prioritize ethical and lawful conduct, and to adhere to principles of righteousness. Numerous persons who have made a commitment to uphold ethical, honest, and courteous conduct exhibit non-compliance with legal regulations, as shown by engaging in texting and conversing on mobile devices while operating a vehicle (Vadastreanu et al., 2015). I find myself perturbed by this situation since I have a sincere concern for these issues and believe that others should share a similar sentiment. Nevertheless, in this particular situation, I place a higher emphasis on my own interests above the interests of others, since I believe it is crucial to take into account both my own needs and the needs of others. The most commonly mentioned grounds are ethical, according to Figures 7-14. I want to assume that my reasons are moral and ethical since I am the sort of person that strives to be a good citizen. I try not to be the person who always behaves correctly at the right moment. When acting ethically is beneficial, such as when one stands to earn materially or otherwise from one's
virtuous actions, one is more inclined to do so. When people see others acting decently, they are more inclined to follow suit. In my view, it is not acceptable to label someone as moral if their major goal for doing properly is to obtain reward. What is ethical in this scenario is determined by the individual's moral judgment (Conway & Kotera, 2020). Doing what we know is right, regardless of the consequences to ourselves, should be second nature. My arguments, in this aspect, are identical to those stated in figures 7-14, in that they support ethical conduct. The motives represented in Figure 7-14, which contain particular incentives reliant on earning a reward, are similar to mine in many ways. I don't perform ethically with the goal of obtaining anything in return; rather, I act ethically because it's the right thing to do and because I know that whatever I do is for the benefit of someone else (Schaltegger & Burritt, 2018).
