Ethics and the Police NAME: QUENDERIOUS MARTIN DATE 10-22-2023 Objective: Answer the following questions in well-developed sentences or short paragraphs. Question 1: Explain whether the actions of Officer Langdon support perceptions of the law enforcement as crime fighters/warriors or public servants/guardians. So, my opinion on this is that I think that the Officer was doing the right thing for his own department, But I feel like to me he is letting get away and take advantage just because of her status. To me I feel like the person thinks that they are just above the law, and I think that just pretty much is unfair. So therefore, it really should have been escalated the proper way by a supervisory I would say and it’s the fact that she was barely over the speed limit and going 60 mph when it was in 30 mph zone. Question 2: Summarize the codes of ethics that Officer Langdon encountered in the scenario. The Officer encountered the ethics of integrity to me just because I felt he did not take the necessary actions that he took that was supposed to do to handle it properly. Si to me he pretty much failed because he didn’t take the necessary actions. Question 3: Compare and contrast the values of police with the code of ethics. The police codes are similar with their actions for me they follow similar guides but when the police values are different from officers if that makes sense because they may not have a problem with it but the other person would . Question 4: Classify the type of discretion used by Officer Langdon in the scenario. Explain your response. The Officer was concerned about the mayor taking the appropriate action against the department due to the woman history and I feel that he did not truly held her
