Take Away from BMAL 700: DSL Program Orientation
My perspective has changed throughout this class for several reasons, including new knowledge acquisition, exposure to different viewpoints and concepts, and personal growth as a student. This broadened my view of the world around me, particularly in terms of the experiences of my peers, their work, and in some instances, their life experiences. While many of our viewpoints are subjective, each one reflects a distinct point of view and differs significantly from the others. The Doctor of Strategic Leadership (DSL) program has changed my perspective since onset of this course, as the level of research and writing required exceeded my expectations. When I enrolled in the Executive Certificate in Strategic Leadership (ECSL) program, I had not anticipated it to be particularly research-focused; however, this has proven to be the case based on this course. Although I intend to continue with the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Organization Management - Leadership program, I have come to understand that the DSL will have a very interesting element to it, and I am looking forward to advancing and completing this program. Afterall, expectations, motivation and interests of an individual can also have an impact on perception. While our perspective and expectations are shaped by many things, some that we choose to embrace or internalize, as opposed to those that we choose to reject.
Annotated Bibliography
I was initially unaware of the concept of an annotated bibliography and found it difficult to compose a single source of 250 words. Unfortunately, I over-read it on Module one of the first
papers for which it was required, resulting in a numerous point deduction. (Greene, n.d.) When you work on your strengths, you grow at a faster rate than when you work on your weaknesses. As the course went on, however, I improved my sources, learned more about them, and used them better in preparing my papers. By annotating the bibliography, I learned more about the

research methodology and general approach as I tried to understand and summarize the data in my sources. Scripture
Although I have always conducted myself with the utmost respect and dignity throughout
my career, I have never referred to the bible quite in the same manner as this course has. It has strengthened my career choice as well as the path I have chosen in my future endeavors. “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away, behold, the new has come” (2 Corinthians 5:17, 1966, p. 163). Leadership is a business that is driven by change, and leaders lead others to change. Just as change is the defining characteristic of leadership, so is
scripture to our very being. Throughout this process, I have come to realize that Scripture does the same thing. It motivates us, but also encourages us to become closer to God on a regular basis. I have discovered that Proverbs are a great source of inspiration as we navigate through life. Important takeaways
This course has taught me three fundamental lessons: consistency, expectations, and time management. I have also gained a better comprehension of the research expectations associated with doctoral-level scholarships, where formal and informal mentorship would likely be advantageous in terms of research excellence and success. Finally, I have learned that motivation
is the best way to reach one's goals. My motivation comes from the fact that I enjoy this course. By concentrating on my future goals, focusing on my education, and better managing my time, I have managed to maintain a balanced academic and personal life. Conclusion
Finally, academic integrity drew my attention while emphasizing the importance of being
cognizant where my thoughts originate and credit others when I use their ideas. Cutri et al.,
