Instructions
In the spaces provided below, give a summary of your experience sharing your FHE lesson with family or friends. Answer each of the following questions (
Note - boxes will expand as you type
):
With whom did you share your lesson?
I shared my lesson with my FHE group. This Monday, we met in the residence of one of our FHE sisters. I read 1 Nephi 2:20–21 out loud. Everyone gave their thoughts on what ideas of obedience and disobedience this scripture verse may teach us. We also discussed the advantages of adhering to the commandments and why we believe doing so would help us.
Which part/aspect of your lesson did you feel went the best?
I think the most successful aspect was when everyone mentioned why they thought we should follow the commandments and how it would benefit them. This, in my opinion, went the best as it was more intimate and showed us all how keeping the commandments can affect each and every one of our lives.
Which part/aspect of your lesson do you feel could have gone better? What could make it better if you were to teach it again?
Sharing the ideas of obedience and disobedience that we may experience from the chapter is the section that, in my opinion, might have gone more smoothly. It took us more than two readings of the paragraph to
locate what we were seeking for. If I were to teach it again, it would be better if I asked everyone to study the section on their own beforehand and look for instances of both obedience and disobedience that they might apply.
What did you learn
as you taught the lesson?
I discovered that not everyone had the same interpretation of the commandments as I was teaching the lesson. For example, some people believe that the commandment to not steal is more essential than the commandment to not lie. I disagree because I think all of the commandments are equally important. Maintaining adherence to each and every one of them is crucial. Playing favorites is something we cannot and should not do if we want to truly receive blessings and realize our full potential.
