2 Ethics, Happiness, and the Good Life
This research paper will explore the relationship between personal core values, ethical obligations to others, and pursuing happiness and "the Good Life." It explores how integrity, empathy, and continuous improvement shape our perspectives on living a happy life (Zhanbayev et al., 2023). It explores how moral behavior contributes to personal well-being and enhances public well-being. This approach aims to explain the relationships between moral behavior, individual growth, and the greater good. Defining Happiness and "The Good Life" The phrase “
The Good Life
”
can mean different things to different people. Material comfort, relationships with family and friends, overall happiness within themselves and being able to afford pleasures of life are just a few examples. Happiness, to me, goes beyond momentary joys and absence of discomforts. It involves achieving life goals, valuing relationships, and actively contributing to societal well-being. In my opinion, the foundation of "the Good Life" is living a life in which relationships and individual accomplishments are valued as essential parts of a more commitment to the common good rather than as ends themselves. This is consistent with the PERMA model developed by Seligman, which identifies the fundamental components of psychological well-being as Positive Emotions, Engagement, Relationships, Meaning, and Achievement (Kovich et al., 2022). According to Seligman's theory, a fulfilling life is complex and requires a balance of joy, intense engagement in activities, supportive relationships, a sense of purpose, and personal accomplishments (Kovich et al., 2022). . The real-life experiences of those who prioritize happiness and well-being support the ideas promoted by this theoretical framework.. This demonstrates how these concepts can be used daily to lead a purposeful and happy life.
3 The Role of Personal Core Values Integrity, empathy, and continuous improvement are my core values. The interaction of these principles with my life's goals provides a foundation for living a purposeful life. For me, integrity is essential to an ethical life; it ensures that my deeds are consistent with my moral principles. This value is the cornerstone of my self-concept and people's confidence in me, encouraging me to lead an honest and responsible life. Walia (2022) highlights the significance of integrity in leading a satisfying life. The research contends that integrity acts as a moral guide, encouraging people to live genuinely and ethically, which is required for social trust and personal satisfaction. Empathy extends my moral view into interpersonal relationships, allowing me to compassionately recognize and address other people's desires and emotions. This value enriches my life with meaningful connections and reinforces the connections of community and mutual support. According to Fu et al. (2022), empathy motivates prosocial behavior, enhancing the well-
being of both the giver and the receiver, thus embodying a fundamental component of "the Good Life." Continuous improvement, or pursuing personal and professional growth, drives me to seek improvement in all aspects of my life. This value is about achieving specific goals and embracing learning and evolution. Santisi et al. (2020) highlights the significance of a growth mindset in fostering resilience, adaptability, and lifelong learning qualities that contribute significantly to one's happiness and sense of accomplishment. By adhering to these principles, I go through life's challenges with a moral and purposeful direction, aspiring to a life that brings me personal fulfilment while making a positive impact on others.. This alignment of values with my life's goals and actions emphasizes the connection between living according to one's principles and achieving true happiness.

4 Analysis of the Relationships Between Personal Values The interplay between my core values of integrity, empathy, and continuous improvement with integrity grounding my actions in morality, empathy deepening connections, and continuous improvement fostering growth, all contributing to a balanced and ethical p
ursuit of "the Good Life” (Zhanbayev et al., 2023). However, the alignment of these values is not without its challenges. Situations that may arise for continuous improvement could overshadow the need for empathy, placing personal growth above the emotional or practical needs of others. This conflict underscores the balance required to ensure that pursuing one's goals does not compromise the well-being of others. In such scenarios, integrity is the value guiding the decision-making process. It demands a reevaluation of actions to ensure they remain aligned with ethical standards, acting as a moral guide for good behavior and consideration of others. Integrity plays a critical role in ethical living and true happiness, echoing Aristotle's emphasis on virtue for achieving eudaimonia (Jacquinot, 2022). This approach ensures a balanced integration of personal growth and empathy, illustrating their collective importance in living a principled and fulfilling life (Jacquinot, 2022). Ethical Obligations and Personal Happiness My understanding of happiness and "the Good Life" is tied to fulfilling ethical obligations towards others, reflecting a belief in ethical behavior and personal well-being. This connection is embedded in Kantian ethics, which posits that moral actions, driven by duty and respect for others' autonomy, are essential for the moral integrity and happiness of the individual (Steigleder, 2020). This philosophical stance is further supported by contemporary research in positive psychology, indicating that prosocial behavior, or actions intended to benefit others, enhances one's happiness by fostering deep social connections and a sense of purpose (Fu et al., 2022). Happiness comes from being a part of a community and fulfilling ethical responsibility towards others. This brings
5 purpose, fulfilment, and a sense of community to personal life. The foundation of "The Good Life" is a commitment to leading a moral life rather than independently, highlighting the close relationship between one's happiness and the well-being of others. Conclusion In conclusion, “
The Good Life
”
, as I see it, involves a pursuit of happiness through the alignment of personal values and ethical responsibilities. Integrity, empathy, and continuous improvement are essential in shaping my ethical framework. Despite conflicting values, prioritizing ensures that the pursuit of happiness aligns with ethics and personal values. Adhering to these values improves quality of life. In the end, living ethical brings genuine happiness and meaning to life.
