What Is Dementia Dementia is a broad term used to describe the significant decline in memory, language, problem-solving, and other cognitive functions, reaching a level where it disrupts everyday activities. Alzheimer's disease stands out as the predominant contributor to dementia (Elble, 2020). Engaging in daily activities can provide a sense of independence for individuals with Alzheimer's. Finding pleasure and meaning in activities we enjoy is crucial for our well-being. It is important for those with Alzheimer's to participate in activities they find enjoyable, as this grants them a degree of control in their lives, fostering a sense of autonomy and empowerment. There are various enjoyable activities for them to engage in, including household chores, physical exercise, music, dancing, gardening, allowing them to choose between a couple of meal options, and encouraging quality time spent with family.
