2 Nursing Informatics Informatics is the application of technology, computer science, and other methods to collect, store, process, and communicate information related to healthcare. Professional organizations have a vital role in supporting the development and use of informatics in healthcare. Through this research, two professional organizations focusing on informatics will be discussed, such as the American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA) and the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS). American Medical Informatics Association is a specialized institute focusing on informatics. The purpose of AMIA is to encourage use of medical informatics and foster collaboration in a healthcare community. AMIA is committed to providing innovative educational opportunities, including webinars, workshops, and conferences, to foster the development of professionals in the medical informatics field ( American Medical Informatics Association) . The company also works to advance the science of medical informatics and its applications in research, practice, and public policy. AMIA supports the future of healthcare by promoting technology and data in healthcare and advocating for the adoption of evidence-based healthcare practices. The organization works to develop standards for the secure storage and sharing of medical information and the management of health-related data. AMIA also advocates for using technology to improve patient outcomes and reduce costs. Additionally, the organization supports research into the use of medical informatics to improve healthcare quality and enable more effective decision-making. The mission of AMIA is to set the standard for healthcare transformation through reliable

3 science, instruction, and informatics ( American Medical Informatics Association) . Its goals are to be the leading association and peer message association in medical informatics and to enhance investigation, advance, distribution, and development of medical informatics to improve biomedicine and health ( Reynolds, 2001) . Its vision is to improve discovery and invention in the utilization of data in biomedicine and health. Other objectives include advancing and integrating the field of medical informatics, maintaining a variety of forums for discussion and dissemination of new developments, fostering collaboration and building relationships with pertinent organizations, and ensuring that AMIA has a strong governance and management structure to carry out its mission. Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society is a professional organization focusing on informatics. It works to improve quality, efficiency, and access to healthcare through the use of health information technology (HIT). HIMSS provides education and resources to healthcare professionals, IT professionals, and executives to help them make informed decisions about HIT investments ( Admin, 2022) . It also advocates for HIT adoption, policies, and standards. HIMSS supports the future of healthcare through its efforts to ensure the adoption of HIT and to encourage the use of HIT in support of quality patient care. It provides educational programs, resources, and strategic partnerships to help healthcare organizations make informed decisions about the use of HIT and to help them develop effective strategies for the adoption and use of HIT. Additionally, HIMSS works to promote the use of interoperability standards, to ensure that patient data can be shared and exchanged securely and reliably across different systems. HIMSS also supports the future of healthcare by advocating for policies that support the use of HIT and providing tools and resources for healthcare professionals to help them better

4 understand and use HIT. Furthermore, the organization brings healthcare stakeholders and technical experts together to collaborate on new and innovative solutions to healthcare challenges. The organization aims to transform the universal health environment through the influence of information and technology, and its vision is to reach the full health potential of every person on earth ( Admin, 2022) . Its objective is to advance the healthcare sector's optimal use of IT and management technologies ( Holman, 2018) . The organization promotes informatics in healthcare, providing education and resources to healthcare professionals, and advocating for policy changes that will benefit informatics. In conclusion, American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA) and Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) both focus on promoting informatics in healthcare. They provide education, research, and tools to healthcare professionals to help them use informatics to improve patient care. Additionally, both organizations have a mission, vision, and goals that focus on promoting informatics in healthcare.
