I came to a similar conclusion in my post. I like the perspective that Jung works from, and feel it lends well to social-learning theory also. Another assessment tool you could apply here is the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9). This is a symptom-specific assessment developed by the APA for measuring symptoms of depression (APA, 2022). In my research, I found that the use of the PHQ-9 did lead to better symptom management in primary care settings for the treatment of MDD (Kroenke et al, 2021).
