Post a comparison of the termination process between treatment groups and family sessions. The termination process between treatment groups and family sessions is slightly different. For treatment groups, the group members may never see each other again. The end of a therapy group holds equal significance to its inception (Toseland & Rivas, 2017). Social workers often have to end or terminate services due to a breach in conflict or due to the end of completion of services. Group treatment ends gradually as time goes on. Explain how you would evaluate readiness to terminate group and family treatment, identifying similarities and differences between the evaluation of the two types of treatment. A practitioner can evaluate readiness to terminate groups or family treatment by determining if the practitioner, family treatment, or group members have reached the goal of the sessions (Toseland & Rivas, 2017). On other occasions, the family may not want to attend the treatment anymore or they cannot conclude to agree for certain services to be provided. Describe the techniques you would use to terminate a treatment group and how these may be the same or different than the techniques you would use to terminate a family intervention. The techniques I would use to terminate a treatment group would be to review what the group has accomplished so far and to see what is left to complete. A big part would be to see if they worked through their trauma and differences to see if they have reached a point where they can continue without the social worker. You could evaluate the same way with the family as well and set tasks for one to do on their own or to simply have them start working on what they covered at home as well as have family sessions on their own.
