One of my strengths when working with a team is my ability to finish my tasks in time as well as communicate with others. Communication is very important when working with the team since it's through communication that one can share information with the team members as well as ask for advice in case of anything. My personal weakness would include lack of knowledge when it comes to certain nursing situations. There are still some situations which I do not have enough knowledge to handle however I'm still working on improving myself. Although I am a rock knowledge concerning certain nursing situations I'm able to communicate with other people and ask for advice whenever I meet with a nursing problem that I cannot handle effectively. Discuss from test success study techniques that will help you be successful with nursing exams To be successful with nursing exams it's important for one to acquire excellent studies techniques. To be successful with nursing exams I will apply for thinking processes which include knowledge, comprehension, analysis and application. I would use the knowledge process to answer knowledge questions which include questions which need one to remember basic information from their courses. As for comprehension I will use it to answer the comprehension questions which are questions that require one to use their understanding and apply it on a certain patients condition. Moreover, analysis
would include analysing complex information and using it to answer questions. Lastly I would use application to answer the application questions which would require a higher level of understanding. Discussion 7 Discuss verbal, non-verbal and written communication within the nursing profession. In the nursing profession verbal communication involves words or writings exchanged during a face-to- face communication. An interpreter is necessary when trying to communicate with a person who communicates a different language. This is because lack of understanding due to difference in language could hinder effective communication. If one is unable to access an interpreter they could use various devices which can translate one language to another. Nonverbal communication majorly involves body language. For nonverbal communication there are no words exchanged between the people communicating. Nonverbal communication is important in the nursing profession since it helps in collecting accurate information. Written communication involves exchange of written message between people. Describe components of multiple choice questions in nursing. Nursing exams majorly consist of multiple choice questions. Multiple choice questions involve a question and at least four answers. One of the answers is always correct while the other three serve distractors for the students. In most cases the distractors are always almost the same as the right answer making it hard for students to identify the right answer. Therefore when handling multiple choice questions it's important for one to carefully go through their answers before choosing the right one. Moreover when handling multiple choice questions it's important to understand the question and check whether it is needs positive or a negative answer. One of the ways to identify which type of answer to give it to check whether the question has any negative words for instance never or not. Discussion 8 Discuss the role of patient teaching in healthcare. Many patients lack understanding when it comes to health care therefore it's important to provide them with patient teaching from the moment of the admission to the moment of their discharge. When providing patient teaching it's important to know that not all patients are the same therefore one has to come with various ways to educate various types of patients. Patient teaching is very important since it is a patient with information concerning their health and ensuring that whenever they leave the hospitals they do not end up resuming to their unhealth habits which could get them back to the hospital. Through patient teaching professionals could help in reducing the possibility of patients health worsening due to lack of enough information concerning there condition. Describe from test success general test taking strategies. General test taking strategies involve strategies which one needs in order to deal with her challenge when taking a test. In order for one to effectively take their test it's important to approach it with
emotional, mental and physical authority. To effectively use the general test taking strategies is important to follow a certain routine which includes having a good night's sleep the night before the tests which could ensure that one is well rested before taking the test. Arriving some minutes before the start of the exam to ensure that one does not end up meeting any emergencies that could delay them. During that one has the appropriate tools to take the exam for instance pen, pencil, and calculator. Reading draw the instructions before starting the exam this is to ensure that one understands what is required of them when taking the exam. Starting with a simple questions before tackling the complex ones in order to avoid using more time on the complex question and leaving no time for the simple ones. Lastly one should ensure that they go through the exam after completing it to ensure that they are answered all the questions accurately. Discussion 9 Discuss principles of safety in healthcare. Patient safety is an important aspect in the healthcare systems. In order to ensure patients survival and well-being it's important to promote a safe environment. Through providing a safe environment healthcare systems can help in reducing the cost of healthcare services. Sometimes the high costs of health care services are as a result of prolonged length of treatment due to lack of a safe environment. Moreover to promote patient safety health care providers can develop a patient-centered safety culture which could focus on safety reports as well as risk management findings helping reduce any risks which may affect patient safety within the healthcare systems. Generally, to promote patient safety it's important to keep a safe environment which healthcare systems come keep the room providing necessary education and resources to their staffs. Describe from the test success other testing formats besides multiple choice questions. There are various other testing formats besides multiple questions for instance extended essay questions, performance appraisals, restricted response questions and structured response questions. Extended essay questions are questions which require one to provide answers for the questions provided by the examiner. The performance appraisal add questions which structure in order to have one exhibit a certain skill. Restricted response questions are questions which require the student to provide a short answer. Structured response questions include questions which one has to select an answer from different options presented to them by the examiner. Discussion 10 Discuss the modes of transmission and the spread of microorganisms during the chain of infection as it relates to patient care. The reason why it is essential to keep up with the advancing computer technology is because each and every day computer technology continues to advance and if one does not keep up with this they will end up not being able to effectively operate a computer. Computers do not replace traditional forms of teaching however the help in expanding learners knowledge through ensuring that a learner can actively participate in the learning process. Discussion 11 Discuss the systems of measurement and the conversion between systems. There are various systems of measurement for instance apothecary, metric and household. Apothecary is a historical system which physician's used to measure mass and volume units. Metric is a decimal system with all the divisions and multiples. Most of the people in the current era use metric since it allows easy and quick conversion between different systems of measurement. The metric system uses various units kilograms, milligrams, grams, micrograms, and liters. Household is a type of system that's majorly used at home. The units of household include cup, spoon, pounds, ounce and gallon. To effectively convert between systems it's important to know or use the equivalency chart. Through having an understanding of the equivalency chart one can effectively convert between systems without making any errors. Describe from test success the tools used to analyse questions you might answer incorrectly. Analysing questions it's an important step in test-taking since it is through analysing questions that one can determine the strength and weaknesses of the answers they have given. Through analysing questions that one made answer incorrectly one can be able to identify mistakes hence ensuring that they do not end up making same mistakes all over again. The tools used to analyse questions include personal performance trends and processing errors. Analysing questions may help in revealing possible errors as well as addressing personal performance trends for instance indecisiveness, time management and concentration. During the analysis one can write down notes in which they can explore later after the test this is to ensure that one does not end up making the same mistake in future tests. Discussion 12 Discuss the importance of dosage calculations as it pertains to the nurse in the healthcare system and importance in prevention of medical errors.
It is essential for all nurses to have a dosage calculation skill. It is the responsibility of a nurse to identify any mistake when made during dosage calculation given us is unable to accurately calculate patients dose them they are going to end up providing patients with medication that could harm them. Accuracy is very important in dosage calculations since there is no way one can correct dosage calculations after a patient has already taken the medication. Since it's the work of a nurse to ensure that their patients are safe and get the best possible care it's up to them to ensure that they do not end up providing patients with medication that could harm their health. There are various importances of prevention of medical errors for instance it helps in ensuring patient safety. Patient safety has been an issue in the healthcare system. Although they are various causes of patient harm medical errors is be one of them. Moreover prevention of medical errors could help in preventing death. Sometimes medical errors could lead to the death of their patient therefore through preventing them one could help in preventing the death of the patient. Additionally prevention of medical errors could also help in preventing disability sometimes medical errors could lead to the incapacitation of the patient. Discussion 13 Discuss the five steps of the nursing process and describe in detail how it relates to nursing care. The nursing process has five major steps which include assessment phase, diagnosing phase, planning phase, implementing phase and evaluation phase. The assessment phase is where nurses gather information concerning their patients physiological, sociological, and psychological status. The second phase which is the diagnosing phase includes making decision concerning their patients actual condition. In the diagnosing stage one determines whether there patient is at risk of any further complications. The third stage which is the planning phase involves development of a plan to help deal with the patient's health problem. In the implementing phase the nurse goes through with the intervention and focuses on achieving the best possible outcome. The last stage which is evaluation phase includes determining whether the intervention has had the required results. Discuss from test success how the nursing process is used in test questions for nursing school. The nursing process is used in test questions through designing questions that test a specific concept, skill or concept in the nursing process. The test questions require students to use critical thinking in order to meet the needs of different patients. To be able to answer the test questions successfully it's important for a student to identify the keywords in the question. Through identifying the keywords in a question a student can be able to understand what is required of them hence providing there correct answer.
