THINGS LEADERSHIP CAN DO TO PREVENT NURSE BURNOUT Capstone Leadership Project By: Courtnique Rouse, R Project description Nurse burnout is a major phenomenon that affects nurses in various ways such as: Reduced energy Emotional exhaustion Lack of motivation Frustration and reduced work efficacy ( Mudallal et al., 2017). The project aims to make leaders understand the concept of nurse burnout. The issue occurs in different aspects of healthcare, and the project specializes in ICU versus floor nurses. Nurse burnout results from stressful environments, extreme working hours, and mentally straining tasks ( Kurosaka & Payton, 2020). Project Rationale Nurses have a highly stressful work environment with many workloads that affect their mental and physical health ( Galanis etal., 2021). The people that will benefit from the project are: Patients Nurses Nursing leaders Professional expectations Gaining a better view from both nurses and leaders. Finding helpful tips that will aid in preventing nurse burnout. Project Goals Enabling leaders and nurses to establish a common ground to provide a good working environment. Enabling nurses to provide quality care by preventing nurses burnout. Helping leaders acknowledge burnout and aid them in identifying the symptoms of burnout in nurses. The goal is to help nurses and leaders understand the causes and prevention strategies to reduce burnout. Expected Outcomes An Improved and efficient working environment for nurses in the interviewed facilities. The acceptance of the new strategies implemented to prevent nurses burnout by both nurses and leaders. Increased efficiency and quality performance by nurses.
