2 Nursing care plan Objective and Intervention The main objective of the nursing plan is to understand the full context of community health to make informed decisions. Understanding the context of the community will enhance the making of quality and inclusive decisions to avoid shortcomings. The intervention will include having plans to ensure the community is safe. The plan is to reduce the risks of infectious diseases by educating the public. Boundaries Are the boundaries geographical, political, or economic? Do neighborhoods have names? Are there sub-communities? How are these identified? The boundaries are mainly geographical. The neighborhood’s names include Biscayne Bay and the Atlantic Ocean, located near South Beach along Downtown Miami. There are no sub- communities around North Miami Beach. Housing and Zoning What is the age of the buildings? Are the residences single-family or multifamily dwellings? North Miami Beach mainly has newly constructed buildings. The residences in this community are mainly multifamily dwellings. Signs of Decay Is the area well-maintained or in disrepair? Is there garbage strewn? Are there trashed/abandoned cars, places for rodents or other wildlife to hide, and vacant lots? Through close observation of the area, various conclusions can be drawn. The area is moderately maintained. Some cases of garbage being carelessly handled in some areas (US Census Bureau, 2021). Further, there are some places where one can find abandoned cars. However, some areas are well maintained where there is the handling of the trash. Parks and Recreational Areas Are there play areas for children and adults? Are they safe and maintained? Is there a Community Center? Who uses them? Since North Miami is a beach, there are many areas where children can play simultaneously with adults. Due to the high demand for such recreational services, providing quality services is a guarantee. The areas look safe and well- maintained to meet different consumers’ tastes. The area mainly has a Catholic health center, which is accessible to all community members (US Census Bureau, 2021). They access healthcare services to the members living around them. Common Areas Where do people collect for social gatherings; where do they “hang out”? Are they for particular groups, or are they open to all? Are there signs People mainly hang out on the beach most of the time to have fun and interact. The beach is open to everyone, and there are signs indicating everything.

3 posted? Stores What are stores (grocery, retail, drug, dry cleaning, etc.) in the area? How do residents travel to them? The stores are mainly grocery in the area. The residents mainly use the road to reach various destinations of the stores. Transportation How do most people get around the area? Is there public transportation? If so, what kind and does it appear to be used? Who uses it? What is the condition of the streets, roads, and highways? Most people get around through bus services managed by the North Miami Beach authority. This means that the most efficient transport form is by road. There is public transportation that everyone accesses. Public transport is the bus system and appears to be mostly used. All the visitors and members of the communities use the road for transportation. Communication Is there evidence of local and national newspapers to other media? Are there informational posters on streets, buses, billboards, etc.? There is little to no evidence of using national and local newspapers, but people mostly use mobile phones. There are information posters on the streets advertising different contexts. Service Centers What services are available in the community – health care, social services, schools, employment offices, etc.? Mostly, healthcare is the service available to the community. Catholic health centers are mostly used and accessible by many individuals. People in the Community Who is in the area during the day? What evidence is there of particular “classes” of people – upper, middle, working, lower? During the day, one can see all kinds of people around the community. There is no clear distinction between the class of people in this community. Industries What are the major industries located in the area? What types of occupations are evident? The tourism industry dominates the area. The occupations that can be evident in this type of area include chefs and tour guides, among others, due to the ability of the community to accommodate many people from diverse backgrounds. Protective Services Where are fire and police stations located? Is there evidence of police and fire protection in the area? The police and fire stations are located in the urban area. Evidence is shown due to the country’s low crime rates. Ethnicity What is the predominant ethnic group? Are there residents from various ethnic The predominant ethnic group in the area mainly consists of whites. However, there are residents from various ethnic backgrounds (Abastida et al., 2022). Are stores, restaurants, churches, schools, or languages indicating a particular ethnic group(s)? observation, one can see the Hispanic, whites, and blacks. Some restaurants cook a wide variety of food, which clearly shows that they try to meet the needs of such different people. Religion What churches and church-run schools are in the area (denomination)? How many are there in each denomination? Mainly Catholic church is evident in the area. The Catholic church runs a school called St. Lawrence Catholic school, which provides basic education and skills to individuals. There are many other schools within the community. Health and Morbidity Is there evidence of any health problems such as drug/alcohol abuse, communicable or chronic diseases, mental illness (etc.)? There is evidence of various health issues that are diagnosed in this particular area. The major diseases include colds and pneumonia, which are related to the coastal climates (Abastida et al., 2022). These are communicable diseases because a beach is an open place and risks a lot of individuals contracting such. Politics Is there evidence of political activity? Are there any signs that indicate a predominant political party (parties)or concern(s)? There is no evidence of a political party in the city nor signs that show there is one party dominant in this particular area. The city is managed by the council, which is represented by the mayor and the city clerk, who is elected by the people.
