Reaching out a Solution Beatriz Yant South University NSG 4068—Trends in Healthcare Policy Professor Wise Mary December 22, 2023
Reaching out a Solution We have a duty to support our patients and fulfill our professional obligations as nurses. In order for nurses to effectively advocate for their patients, they need be aware about political analysis and strategies. "Adjusting policy is an essential aspect of the congressional process". Even if problems will always arise, there are always going to be approaches to recognize them, analyze them, and come up with a workable solution (Janks, 2020) . What is the issue? When a device meant to save lives is missing from its designated location, there is a serious and perhaps fatal problem. Instead of being in a convenient location, the Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) was kept in the custodial closet. The problem lies in the fact that a person may experience a cardiac arrest at any time, and employing an automatic external defibrillator is expected to save the patient's life. Fortunately, the patient was able to be revived in this instance by the emergency team, but in the worst-case situation, the patient may have died. The defibrillator ought to be in the normal spot since it ought to be use inside a period to increment the possibilities of endurance. “Preferably, defibrillation ought to happen under 2 or 3minutes after the thought OHCA to expand endurance". For this situation, it could have been destroying and the individual might have lost his life. The AED ought to never be misplace for any reason (Bassi et al., 2023) . Is it my issue, and can I solve it? The scope of practice for nurses varies based on the environment in which they operate. In this instance, among the school nurse's numerous duties is keeping an emergency plan ready
for when one arises. Since any kid might have an emergency, the school nurse should always be aware of where the AED is located and be prepared to respond and carry the required equipment. Is this the real issue or merely a symptom of a larger one? This issue may be a sign of something more serious since it reveals a lack of structure in a setting where nurses are expected to care for many students and to be the person with the most knowledge in an emergency. This problem also suggests that the school should form a committee to choose the optimum location for the emergency supplies and to ensure that the coaches of the sports departments and the nurse have easy access to them in case of emergency. Does it need an immediate solution, or can it wait? This issue needs a quick arrangement since this time the patient lived but misplacing the AED could be lethal a later opportunity. To find an answer the school ought to not focus on who is liable for losing it however rather to make an arrangement and pick the best place for the AED to be open to all. “As a result, school nurses should carefully consider the location of the AED, such as the sports field and hallways (Laycock et al., 2020) . Is it likely to go away by itself? If a remedy is not found right soon, this problem won't go away on its own. Instead, if it isn't resolved right away, it can get worse. Can I risk ignoring it?

It is important to take action on this matter since the consequences might be lethal if it occurs again. Ignoring any problem that might inhibit life-saving is not a smart idea. The cost of an automatic external defibrillator is high. Having one at the school and being able to utilize it when needed is a privilege. Defibrillation should be administered to patients as quickly as feasible, according to nurses. The chance of survival decreases by around 7% to 10% for every minute when defibrillation is delayed (Buxton, 2019) . As the school's medical representative, the nurse is unable to ignore the issue. What are the possible solutions? Are there risks to these solutions? Locating the AED in the right location should be part of the solution. To optimize the efficiency of the AED, save lives, and avoid wasting valuable time searching for the device in an emergency, there must be a mutual understanding and agreement that the equipment must be returned to its rightful place after usage. Leaving the device on display in a venue where children are present will always carry some danger (Sattler, 2022) . The children may attempt to take it and play with it or steal it out of curiosity. What steps would you need to take in order to solve the issue? To address the problem, all members of the school staff coaches, security guards, teachers, and the nurse should receive training on how to use an AED and know where to put it so that it is easily accessible in an emergency. To save lives, everyone must know how to operate the equipment. In this manner, they will comprehend the significance of the gadget and receive a briefing on what went wrong in the scenario, why it's a problem, and how to keep it from happening in the future. In order to try to find various ideas and solutions as well as any barriers
to the solution, it is usually a good idea to engage as many individuals as possible (Laycock et al., 2020) . It is beneficial to brainstorm and obtain other opinions and recommendations. Does anyone else at the school need to be involved in the solution? Many people need to be involved in the solution because it will take a team effort to prevent this problem from happening again since the outcomes might be catastrophic. Given that they are ultimately in charge of the school, the principal ought to be involved in the solution. In addition to the athletic coaches, there should be teachers involved. Students should be provided with instruction that emphasizes the significance of the Automatic External Defibrillator and the security personnel who can assist in an emergency and who must patrol the area to make sure it is in the proper location (Laycock et al., 2020) Where is the power leverage in the school to reach the preferred solution? Since every individual has a unique set of abilities, combining the strength of all the sources is quite beneficial. The principal is the head of the school and his opinions carry authority, while the nurse has training in medicine and may provide medical expertise. Teachers have a crucial role in the school as they spend the most time with students and have a significant influence. I acknowledge that nurses possess expert power based on their degree of education and expertise. "Nurses need to recognize that they have access to this power source.”Given that health is her area of competence, the nurse in this instance will provide the expert rationale for resolving the problem (Sattler, 2022) .
