Consult Case Study 6.2, "Preventive Services at Greenwood Family Medicine," in Chapter 6 in the textbook. What did you immediately notice about the dynamics of the team? Who had the most authority? Why was this team ineffective in accomplishing its goals? What could the team members have done differently to collaborate more effectively? Class, It is clear from reading Case Study 6.2 that there are some tensions in the team interactions. The team members don't seem to be communicating or understanding each other well enough. The arguments and miscommunications that occur during their meetings make this clear. Dr. Jones seems to be the team member with the most authority. His status as the senior physician and his involvement in making the ultimate judgments are the main causes of this. However, some team members believe their ideas and efforts aren't being sufficiently taken into consideration, which appears to be creating some conflict due to his control. There were several reasons why the team was ineffective to achieve its objectives. Lack of clear communication, unfair delegation of power, and lack of collaboration are why they are some. Misunderstandings and arguments resulted from team members' ineffective communication of their ideas and concerns. Dr. Jones's commanding presence appeared to hinder the efforts of other members of the team. Lack of actual teamwork was evident in the way team members frequently worked alone rather than together. Teams are pervasive in health care and used for virtually every activity carried out in health care organizations, including clinical and management-focused activities (Johnson & Sollecito, 2018). In order to improve teamwork, the members of the team might have improved communication, balanced authority, and encouraged cooperation and teamwork. Making sure that everyone in the team is aware of the objectives and current duties. Encourage equal distribution of authority so that each team member feels appreciated for their efforts. Promoting an environment where individuals cooperate to achieve a common objective. In conclusion, by enhancing communication, distributing power fairly, and encouraging a collaborative and team-oriented culture, the staff at Greenwood Family Medicine may have been more productive. Discovering the cause of any ineffectiveness in your team structure will help you solve the problem and get your team working together seamlessly (Chron.com, 2021). Reference
