Kelsey Miller 2/22/2023 ELM-210 Instructor Herbert Evaluating Lesson Plans The lesson plans that I have selected is one that is intended for third grade and in the subject of science. It has been provided in the link below from Education.com. The plan is very through. There are n loose end or areas that have not been covered, leaving the teacher to figure out any specifics of the lesson or extension. From beginning to end all parts are present. Alignment of the Common Core State Standard, objective, and engagement are all in relation to one another. The objective of CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RI.3.7, "Use information gained from illustrations (e.g., maps, photographs) and the words in a text to demonstrate understanding of the text (e.g., where, when, why, and how key events occur)." The class objective and the methods of mastering objects fall into objects using various materials to achieve the goal. Cross-curricular connections are present in this lesson plan besides being a science lesson this also incorporates language arts elements. This is dependent through brainstorming in the introduction. During the independent working section students are asked to develop solutions to a problem. When assessments are involved there are only informative assessments listed, no final assessments are mentioned. I feel like this would be added since it is also an essential part of achieving a standard and fundamental to teachers and students. Differentiation is included in this lesson plan. It offers additional help for support and enrichment. For the lesson plan to be more well-rounded I feel as English Language learns at the very least should also be added. For enrichment or gifted the teacher will give an additional worksheet for the students to complete. As for support the teacher will offer additional visual representations and examples to help them these selected students better understand the concepts. For an English Learner I would provide a application to translate words or a dictionary to do the same in their native language. The teacher offered some additional support, but I don’t not feel as if they are giving any information to ensure that each student is getting support. Explanations are very brief. Should be more inclusive in this area. If I were to use this lesson plan I would o Lu use it as a rough draft. Though it o Clyde’s all of the “necessary” part I feel as if it is not inclusive or detailed enough. As a future teacher I know that I will be relying heavily on my lesson plans so all of my answers so be on it. If I have a student with a IEP, their instructions for teaching should be included. Just as in the class profile there are two children that are learning disabled. They might require additive equipment that is needed for them to learn the best way. Some students have glasses. Selected ones might need moved closer to the front. My lesson plans should be able to guide me into the best options for
each of my students until I feel comfortable and feel comfortable making adjustments without it being in a lesson plan. I would also ensure that any and all standards are included in and on the top of my lesson plans. This would swerve a reminder of the focus of the class and help me in making the best options for each stud eta as it is needed.
