To me systems thinking is really a look at a system and all the components within it together as a whole. In the IT field, systems thinking is crucial for design and development as well as good for problem solving to look past symptoms to find the root causes. Collections can be a random assortment of items that share a common theme, while systems are a group oof things that are interrelated that form rules or procedures to reach a specific goal. Feedback loops are crucial enabling systems or software to self-regulate, adapt, and optimize performance in the IT field. A feedback loop can be a mechanism in software or a system to control the functions allowing the system or software to learn from past actions and adjust to future actions. Stock and Flow diagrams play a vital role in understanding dynamic systems in the IT field. Stock refers to the entities that can accumulate or deplete over time. Such as clothing stock, containers, or reservoirs. Flows are the entities that cause the Stocks to increase or decrease, which represents the movement of materials or activity. Think of Flows as the production or sales of clothes, as the clothes production increases the Stock goes up, as the clothes sales increase the Stock goes down. Casual loop diagrams are for holistically modeling all dynamic systems conceptually. In the IT field, Casual loop diagrams can be used to understand the relationship between different factors that can affect software development.
