DAD 220 Analysis and Summary Template Replace the bracketed text in this template with your responses and any supporting screenshots. Then submit it to the Module Five Activity for grading and feedback. Rename this document by adding your last name to the file name before you submit. 1. Analyze the data you’ve been provided with to identify themes : a. Which parts are being replaced most? i. The Fuel tank had 95 being replaced/repaired. Though it is spelled Fule. b. Is there a region of the country that experiences more part failures and replacements than others? i. Identify region: 1. I identified the regions based on the table provided. The region that experiences the most failures and replacements came out to be the
Midwest that had 260 failures. ii. How might the fleet maintenance team use the information to update its maintenance schedule? 1. The team would have to have better and more frequent inspections in the Midwest. That would include more man power, since the frequency of inspections would increase. With how close the Northeast is to the Midwest, I would say they should start preventative measures as well. c. Which parts are being replaced most due to corrosion or rust? i. Corrosion is ruining brake lines, while rust is ruining wheel arches and Fenders being a close second. d. Which parts are being replaced most because of mechanical failure or accident, like a flat tire or rock through the windshield? i. Tires are being replaced and repaired the most. The tires were repaired more than they were being replaced. 2. Write a brief summary of your analysis that takes the information from Step 1 and presents it in a way that nontechnical stakeholders can understand. a. The first analysis of the data I did was to track down the biggest issues and where they are located. I separated each state into their designated region and reviewed the specific repairs that were done. What I found was that the Midwest region has the most need for repairs/replacements of parts. Overall, the part that needed to be replaced the most was the Fuel Tank in general.
3. Outline the approach that you took to conduct the analysis. a. What queries did you use to identify trends or themes in the data? i. To identify the trends or themes, I used GROUP BY statements in my queries. By doing that, I was able to couple the repairs and region so that the database could give me the repair numbers by region. b. What are the benefits of using these queries to retrieve the information in a way that allows you to provide valuable information to your stakeholders? i. If I hadn’t paired the region and repair it would have been much slower and harder to figure out the data and give sensible data to others. The easier I make it for myself, the easier I make it for everyone else! 4. Explain how the functions in the analysis tool allowed you to organize the data and retrieve records quickly. a. I used the COUNT query a lot so that I could easily access the amount of times an incident or repair happened. This helped the tabled look more organized and easier to have a better understanding of it. Putting everything in a list is much, much better than having unsorted information.
