Assignment Reflection
What Is the Assignment Reflection? The more students know about themselves as learners (their time management skills, self-
regulation skills, and their learning preferences), the more likely they are to succeed in college and later in their career.
The purpose of the Assignment Reflection is to help you reflect on your preparation strategies and your performance so that you know what adjustments to make to improve your academic outcomes. Assignment Name (10 points)
: Choose ONE of the following and type the name of the assignment below: Time Flies, Information Literacy, or the Plagiarism Quiz.
Information Literacy Assignment
Reflection (20 points)
: Identify at least three (3) ways you prepared for this assignment/exam. How much time did you spend on each? Use complete sentences.
1. I prepared for this assignment by reviewing the lectures and videos and taking notes
2. In order to better indulge in the concepts taught I searched for alternative forms of information and resources and used the same methods I learned in the lessons to determine whether information is credible.
3. Before turning in the assignment I reached out to a former Journalism teacher to discuss the concepts learned and get extra insight.
Comparison (20 points)
: Identify at least three (3) areas where you lost points on this assignment/exam. If no points were lost, identify at least (3) areas where you excelled on this assignment and explain why. Use complete sentences.
1. I excelled in the assignment receiving a perfect score although I was not confident.
2. I was surprised that I received a perfect score for sentence structure as I tend to use run
on sentences often.
3. I was also impressed at being able to complete the template without adjusting the form.
I have had a lot of complications with downloading assignments and while typing some form of the pre-typed question or directions shift on the paper. This causes me to have to start over or try my best to get it back to its original alignment.
Adjustments (20 points)
: Identify three (3) things to change in preparation for the next assignment. For each change, explain how you will make the adjustment for future assignments. Use complete sentences.
1. For this specific assignment I think that I could change my thought process while working. I learned after this assignment that it is best to just start the assignment. Not to procrastinate or over think it. I will start the assignement and when I begin to feel frustrated I will complete as much as I can and take a break. Regroup my thoughts and go
back to it, even if it is the following day.
2. This assignment showed me that my study methods to understand the lesson being taught is effective. The assignment reflected that I understood the questions being asked and was able to form responses that reflected directly to the information in the reading.
Self-Assessment (20 points)
: What score did you earn on the assignment you selected? What score did you expect to receive on this assignment? Why do you think you did better or worse than you expected on this assignment? Explain using 3 – 5 complete sentences. I received 100 points out of 100 possible points on this assignment. I expected to receive a total of 80 points. I believe I did better because my uncertainty drove me to get an opinion and outlook on the assignment from fresh eyes. Doing the assignment with out the assistance from resources I feel would have led to a negative outcome because I was over thinking the assignment and my frustration would not let me see the simplicity in it. The fresh eyes helped me
regain focus and hear what it was the assignment required of me interpreted by someone else. Mechanics (10 points):
You will receive a grade out of ten for grammar, punctuation, spelling, clear writing, etc.

Case Study – The New Engineer
Jeff was just hired by GSI, Inc. to be their Environmental and Safety Coordinator. This is Jeff's first position after completing his engineering degree. He had taken a course in safety engineering as part of his studies and felt confident that he could handle the job.
Management at GSI, Inc. has assured him that they are committed to maintaining a safe workplace. They have never had an individual dedicated to this task full-time. They will implement his recommendations if he can justify them.
As Jeff begins to get familiar with the operations, he spends considerable time on the production floor. He notices workers clean their tools before break with a liquid from an unmarked 55-gallon drum. They also use this liquid to clean residue from their skin. They use paper towels to dry their tools and hands, throw these towels in the trash, and head to the break room for a snack and/or smoke.
In talking with the workers, Jeff learns of some of…
