Data Analysis
Figure 1.1 displays the data collected for the acquisition deck 2 in ABA 620 in the week
of January 23
rd
– 27
th
. Acquisition accel data over the week is present with an increasing trend
and low variability. The accel for the last day of week 4 is 19 and the decel for the last day of
week 4 is 3. The number of cards were skipped was 1 due to not having enough time to finish
within 30 seconds. The last accel data point of the week was at 19, indicating the AIM has been
met. The AIM was met since Thursday the 26
th
and was continuous met the next day.
Figure 2.1 displays the fluency data collected for the week of January 23
rd
– 27
th
. As
shown above, the fluency accel is staying at a high level with low variability, indicating the
fluency is maintaining. The decel for the fluency deck is present at a low level with low
variability.
Study Approach and Adjustments
Study Approach:
My study approach for this week was continuing the 30-minute
studying in the morning and nighttime for deck 2. My reinforcer for the week is complete daily
SAFMEDS decks and input the data in precision X by 10 PM I will be able to watch 1 episode of
a TV show. I continue studying the recording of deck 2 and during my break at work I will use
the study mode on SAFMED to study. I will continue to study my fluency deck during lunch
time to keep up with meeting AIM. After studying 20 minutes of deck 2 I will complete the five
times daily task for deck 2. Then, I will study 10 minutes for fluency deck and complete the 3
times daily task and ensure to keep up with AIM.
Timing Behavior:
On day 1 through day 5 of the trial, I run five 30 seconds timings, and
enter the best data point into Precision X. This is done for a minimum of 5 times a day starting
from Monday to Friday of this week. On day 1 through day 5, I run three 30 seconds timing, and
enter the best data point for the fluency deck.
Consequence:
I did meet the AIM for deck 2 this week. I respond to my decel cards with
continuing to write down which ones I got wrong and make sure I study them even more which
the next day. Another way I study is repeat writing down the definition for 10 times for the decel
cards. I did not adjust my study time this week I continue to study in the morning for 30 minutes
and 30 minutes before bed. I did reinforce myself with keeping input data points to precision X
on the day of with watching TV. This weeks’ acquisition accel data projected to have met AIM.
The adjustment for this week is to make a pile of decel cards and study extra 15 minutes after
completing the SAFMED trials for both deck 2 and fluency deck to make sure I get them the
next day. Another adjustment this week is that due to having more free time I would work out
while studying and if I got the wrong term, I would run for another 2 minutes. For fluency deck I
continue in meeting AIM and will continue to study with the flashcards when I am free and listen
to the recording I made.

Activity-Based Costing and Customer Profitability
Metroid Electric manufactures power distribution equipment for commercial customers, such as hospitals and manufacturers. Activity-based costing was used to determine customer profitability. Customer service activities were assigned to individual customers, using the following assumed customer service activities, activity base, and activity rate:
Customer Service Activity
Activity Base
Activity Rate
Bid preparation
Number of bid requests
$420 per request
Shipment
Number of shipments
$90 per shipment
Support standard items
Number of standard items ordered
$30 per std. item
Support nonstandard items
Number of nonstandard items ordered
$180 per non std. item

Four months into a six month deployment, you are a solo pilot returning to home base after an uneventful overwatch mission to a non-disclosed desert
location. Your mission was extended 90 minutes requiring at least one additional aerial refuel. The moon has now set. A shift in prevailing winds causes an
infrequently used runway to be active. You are less familiar with the approach to this runway and have only used it during VFR conditions. The instrument
approach plate reveals you will fly a prolonged DME arc taking you out over the unlit desert away from the dimly lit base.
While flying the above instrument approach, you take another look at the approach plate. When you look up again the airfield lights are visible through the
upper portion of your canopy. You did not sense any change in your aircraft attitude. Which of the following best describes what happened while you looked
at the approach plate?
OA. The black hole effect has amplified the normal reflection of the airfield lights…

Lusaka Engineering Company (LEC) had actual quality costs for the year ended December
31, 2022, as given below:
Cost Element Amount ($)
Prototype verification 300,000
Process acceptance 315,000
Product liability 618,750
Recalls 243,750
Retesting 187,500
Rework 375,000
Test labour 360,000
Vendor certification 600,000
At the zero-defect state, LEC expects to spend $375,000 on Prototype verification, $75,000
on Vendor certification, and $50,000 on Process acceptance. Assume sales to be
$25,000,000.
Required:
(a) Prepare a Cost of Quality report for 2022 using the PAF Model. What does this
report tell the management of LEC?
(b) Prepare a Cost of Quality report for the Zero-Defect State using the PAF Model.
Explain why quality costs still are present for the zero-defect state.
(c) What if LEC achieves the zero-defect state reflected in the report in part (b), what
are some of the implications of this achievement?

Steam at T1 = 320 °C flows in a cast iron pipe (k= 80 W/m. °C) whose inner and outer diameters are
5 cm = 0.05 m and D₂ = 5.5 cm = 0.055 m, respectively. The pipe is covered with 3-cm-thick glass wool
insulation with k = 0.05 W/m. °C. Heat is lost to surroundings at T2 = 5 °C by natural convection and
radiation, with a combined heat transfer coefficient of h₂ = 18 W/m². °C. Taking the heat transfer coefficient
inside the pipe to be h₁ = 60 W/m². °C, determine the temperature drops across the pipe and the insulation.
The determination is based on a unit length of the pipe (L = 1 m).
Assumptions
1. Heat transfer is one-dimensional since there is no indication of any change with time.
2.
Heat transfer is one-dimensional since there is thermal symmetry about the centreline and no
variation in the axial direction.
3. Thermal conductivities are constant.
4. The thermal contact resistant at the interface is…
