Date: Section: PHYS 2426 6301 Name Surname (Last Name): Gutierrez Laboratory #: Lab 1 Laboratory Title: Uncertainty and Error Probation Objective (in one or two sentences): To understand how an object that doesn’t change can result in different measured outcomes. When being measured by different members in the group. Apparatus (in one or two sentences): Equipment used in this experiment consists of a vernier caliper, wooden block, and PVC pipe. Theory (in one or two sentences): When measuring the wooden block by different individuals’ results might differ. The change in measurements can be described by random errors. Data (explain in one or two sentences how you collected the data and how you processed such data): The data collected was written after each measurement gathering the average and standard deviation. In the span of four trails by measuring the length, width, and height and inner diameter, outer diameter, and height. Discussion (explain in one or two sentences what did you do and how you accomplished the tasks): Gathered the dimension of the wooden block and PVC pipe in four trails. And concluded the average and standard deviation for both objects. Conclusion (explain in one or two sentences what is your conclusion, is the theory right, is the theory wrong): We found out that four people measuring the same object results in different measurements. Also known as random errors that happen on repeated measurements.
