The Cooling Load (Walls, Roof, Windows, Doors) - CLTD Method ሶ𝑞 𝑤 𝑡 = ?𝐴 ?𝐿?? 𝑡 𝑐𝑜𝑟 BLDG 471 - Fall 2023 Dr. M. Zaheeruddin 4 ?𝐿?? 𝑡 𝑐𝑜𝑟 = ?𝐿?? + 78 − ? 𝑖 + 𝑡 𝑜𝑚 − 85 Standard CLTD values are computed with the following set of data Inside temperature = 78 F Outdoor maximum temperature = 95 F, daily range = 21 F For conditions other than the standard, Indoor and outdoor temperature corrections are applied using the above equation
The Cooling Load (Walls, Roof, Windows, Doors) - CLTD Method CLTD tables for several standard wall types are published (Tables 8-19) Calculating the cooling loads for walls consists of three steps: ሶ𝑞 𝑤 𝑡 = ?𝐴 ?𝐿?? 𝑡 𝑐𝑜𝑟 Step-1: Calculate the U value of the wall Step-2: Determine the wall type matching with the ASHRAE wall number Step-3: Read the standard CLTD value (Table 8-19). Apply correction if required and calculate the cooling load. BLDG 471 - Fall 2023 Dr. M. Zaheeruddin 5
