Specifications subject to change without notice. NUMBER: 2.1/106A ISSUED: September 1995 REVISED: July 1996 PRODUCT: Centaur 40, Centaur 50 and Taurus 60 MODEL(S): All Specifics: Pneumatic start, gas fuel or dual fuel systems SUBJECT: NEW STRAINERS FOR PNEUMATIC START AND NATURAL GAS FUEL SYSTEMS —REVISION NOTICE— Includes Centaur 40 in the product category. Type of Change: Product Improvement Recommended Compliance: Immediate Purpose: To announce the availability of a new standardized 2", 200 mesh strainer, Part No. 120401-16, for pneumatic start and gas fuel supply lines. GENERAL INFORMATION: Contamination within the pneumatic start system has been responsible for several instances of pre- mature wear and turbine starter failures. Turbine starter life can be significantly improved by re- placing the 100 mesh strainers, previously supplied as part of the loose ship kit for pneumatic start systems, with a new 200 mesh strainer. Installation of a second 200 mesh strainer is recommended for natural gas fuel systems and dual fuel systems. All systems now use the same part number strainer assemblies. RECOMMENDED ACTION: 1. Two 2", 200 mesh pneumatic system strainer assemblies, Solar part no. 120401-16, should be ordered from your local Solar parts sales representative. 2. Locate the 2" strainers currently installed in the pneumatic start system and the natural gas fuel supply line. The strainers are normally installed outside the skid at the point where the gas enters the skid connections (see Figure 1 and Figure 2). 3. Shut the package down and close the hand valve located upstream of the strainer. Ensure no gas pressure is present in the vicinity of the pneumatic strainer. 4. Remove the entire strainer assembly including the housing and install the new 2", 200 mesh assembly. 5. After completing the installation and ensuring proper connections, open the hand valve and check for leaks. 6. Restart the package, and continue normal operation.
