Jessica Hale Clinical Field Experience C: Intervention Teacher: Mrs. Rodriguez Intervention strategies made for the three students from my last observation. The students from my last observation all had ADHD. Grade level instruction / Illinois state standard for 7
th
grade math: CC.7.RP.2b: Identify the constant of proportionality (unit rate) in tables, graphs, equations diagrams, and verbal descriptions of proportional relationships. Intervention strategies: 1.)
Give a relatable story to go with the problems.
2.)
Always use a model like a table, graph, equations, diagrams. If a model is not given, have
the students automatically start making a model that goes along with the problems. Intervention strategy one: Give a relatable story to go with the problems. When teaching a student, a new problem, or a problem that they are struggling with, we do not want to lose them. We want to keep our students actively listening, so they are taking in the information being taught. By relating the problems to the student’s life or interests, you are grabbing their attention more. Intervention strategy two: Always use a model like a table, graph, equations, and diagrams.
By teaching students how to visually map out a problem, they will be able to visually see the problem when doing independent work. Putting something to a visual also makes you more likely to remember how to set up/do the problem.
Jessica Hale Reflection In 250-500 words, summarize and reflect upon your conversations and instructional support. Address how your mentor teacher plans for and reflects upon intervention choices in his or her classroom and explain how you will use your findings in your future professional practice.
I feel like this week was a perfect week to do this observation. On Wednesday this week, the students took a test. On Monday, December 18

they reviewed the study guide. On Tuesday, December 19
th
, the students contained to review the study guide as a whole class. My next day of observation was Thursday, December 21
st
. The students that get extra time on the test were pulled to finish the test. I sat in on the testing with Mrs. Rodriguez and six other students. During the test, Mrs. Rodriguez was walking around helping the students. During the test, Mrs. Rodriguez was going around the room and asking students what help they needed. She was explaining problems without giving away the answers.
