Introduction
Instructions
: Use complete sentences to describe the purpose(s) of your statistical inquiry. Identify the original data source and identify/describe the population for which conclusions will be drawn. Cite sources in the References section. The last sentence should express one or two major findings of your inquiry. Delete all these instructions before submitting your report in Canvas
.
The General Social Survey (GSS) aims to measure the data of Americans and their families to monitor their attitudes along with social issues. Each family has variables labeled and categorized in sections. The categories were WrkStat Marital status, Childs, Educ, Born PartyID, Happy, Health, SatFin, SexBirth, SexNow1, and TotalIncentive. A major finding during my inquiry was that Education did not have an influence in the happiness of
a family. Methods
Instructions
: Use complete sentences to describe the type of study: observation or experiment (in either case, include the specific type). Identify clearly whether your data include an entire population or are a sample, how both source data and your data were collected, and the size of your data set. Name and describe each variable; include possible values of each variable only as needed for clarity. Justify whether each variable is a qualitative variable or a quantitative variable. The type of study that was taken was a cross sectional study. The data was an observation of families and how they are doing. Taking a certain amount of families making it a sample with roughly 60 families. My data variables were labeled as WrkStat Marital, Childs, Educ, Born PartyID, Happy, Health, SatFin, SexBirth, SexNow1, and TotalIncentive. WrkStat
was to determine the status of the families if they were working full time, part time, have a job, no job, retired, in school, keeping house, or other.
Marital
labels the statues if they are married, divorced, widowed, separated, or never married. Childs
says if they ever had any children ranging from 0 to 8. Educ was the education levels that were recorded using the GSS questionnaire, with the education levels ranging from 0 to 20. Born
says if they were either born in the U.S. or not.
PartyID
says if they are Republican, Democrat, Independent, etc.
Happy
determines if how happy the family is with the levels of very happy, pretty happy, and not too happy. Health
says if their own health is good with levels of excellent, good, fair, and poor. SatFin
is saying how satisfied they are with their current financial position with pretty satisfied, more or less satisfied, and not satisfied at all being the options. Page 1

SexBirth
will say what is recorded at their birth either female or male. SexNow1 asks how they would describe themselves now with the options of male, female, transgender, or none of these. TotalIncentive
this shows the pre- and post- incentive for baseline and any follow on studies with the numbers of 0 to 200. Variables that are qualitative variables are WrkStat, Marital, Born, Happy, Health, SatFin, SexBirth, and SexNow1. While the variables that are quantitative variables are Childs, Educ, PartyID, and TotalIncentive. Findings
Instructions
: Introduce each variable summary with a brief, descriptive sentence. Clearly summarize and label each variable as indicated below. Insert/embed tables and graphs from StatCrunch or other software as indicated.

. Conclude each variable summary with a contextual interpretation using a complete sentence(s). For each quantitative variable, include a comment on what the relationship between the mean and the median conveys.

The mean of how many children the parents had was around 1.55. While the median of parents that have children
is 1. Because of the amount of parents with so little children this makes the data of the graph look like it’s skew to the right and the standard deviation being 1.7016941. With the minimum amount being 0 and the maximum being 5 children.
Numerical summary of each qualitative variable: relative frequency distribution

Social Impact
Instructions
: Use complete sentences to elaborate on the social trends of at least four
variables. Interpret social impact with respect to how those summaries convey information about the identified population. If comparing to historical data, cite sources in the Reference section. Delete instructions before submitting in Canvas
.
WrkStat goes over the social trend of either working full time, part time, unemployed, retired, in school, keeping house, or other. With the main social trend being people who work full-time. This impacts the social status because it defines their social income.
Marital had the trends of married, divorced, widowed, separated, or never married. The main trend being married. Conclusion
Instructions
: Briefly address the overall meaningfulness of the statistical inquiry using complete sentences. Focus on inferences made about the identified population and how the inquiry could be used in a community. Delete instructions before submitting in Canvas
