6-2 SWOT Analysis: Reflections The SWOT Analysis I completed was the interactive version. The activity was quite easy, but I had to take extra time in differentiating Weakness and Threats. I have learned that weakness is an internal factor and threats are an external factor. Weaknesses can be controlled by the company if it is aligned with the strengths of the company. For example, If the company's weakness is a high start-up cost to produce the new product but is financially healthy, then it would not be a problem to produce the product. Threats are an external factor and cannot be controlled. Marketers tend to overlook Threats because they tend to focus only on Strengths, Weaknesses and Opportunities so they can promote their products and put it out there without recognizing the threats. If Marketers fail to recognize the threats, they will lose a lot of money that was used to buy the materials, to create the product and promoting the product to consumers. Another impact of failing to recognize the threats could lead to the company into bankruptcy, especially if the company went “all - in” on their products .
