Hello Everyone! My name is Kaitlyn Gomes, and I live in Rhode Island. This is my last term at SNHU! Along with obtaining my master's in this program, my concentration is in IT Management. Although I have not held a cyber position, I have been a data and business analyst and am a business analyst in higher education. During my experience taking cybersecurity courses at SNHU, the main courses that stood out to me most were any digital forensics classes I had taken throughout the program. Working in the analytics field, I have learned and have a firm understanding of the business and technical side of processes and implementations, but undergoing technical skills such as fundamental troubleshooting and ethical hacking methods allowed me to have a solid foundation on the technical aspects of working and adapting in various operating systems. Although I have not been able to apply that information in my current or previous positions, I plan to use it when I graduate and enter a cybersecurity analyst role. When I worked as a financial data analyst, I was a client-facing analyst who processed new and returning stakeholders into our system while discussing with the stakeholders what benefits they would like to enter the company. Dealing with new clients was challenging because the previous financial company held all the information while further understanding the benefits rather than the stakeholders themselves. When completing a preliminary questionnaire between myself and the stakeholder, I would have to gauge the end user's requirements and goals with moving finance companies through the questionnaire. Once the questionnaire between myself and the stakeholder was complete, I would analyze the data to review the answers and pinpoints discussed thoroughly and collaborate with a project manager further to create a document piece regarding all of the benefits that the potential stakeholder can have with the finance company would then be presented to the stakeholder once more before moving on with the implementation phase. During this process, the five key traits I demonstrated in this role include self-confidence, adaptability, endurance, technology, and productivity (Schachter, 2018). I listed self-confidence first because holding a professional and intellectual conversation with potential stakeholders is critical for them to feel confident that the process will go smoothly while fulfilling all the requests they want from the services. Adaptability is also essential because, as a data analyst, many projects and implementations are occurring consistently in an agile sprint environment, allowing all projects to have a short turnaround rate for stakeholder satisfaction. Listing endurance correlates with adaptability because being able to switch gears and prioritize the proper time for all projects that I am holding is critical for my team and me to succeed. With my stakeholders located
throughout the United States, technology has been a fantastic trait added to my role because it allows me to communicate effectively through various routes, including Zoom, emailing, messaging, and sending documents. The last trait includes productivity, which correlates with adaptability and endurance because effortlessly and efficiently makes the team more successful in the long haul. Although this position I discussed was very hands-on, many factors allowed me to succeed while learning the company's ecosystem. Resources: Schachter, Harvey.
