Contextual factors are not only important in a student's learning process, but it can also have a positive or negative affect on how a student may learn. “ Learning may be influenced by families, culture, socioeconomic realities, and family discipline procedures (Becher & Orland- Barak, 2018). It is up to the teachers to create an atmosphere that that is comfortable for both themselves and the students while also being aware of how to properly help students who may need more adaption in their learning. 2
Social Interactions o Children will have many social interactions with teachers, peers, family, friends, and all within their community. This is from daily communication to communication just about toys and favorite colors. o Social interaction is the best way for children to learn and interact with their peers as communication can be strengthen with conversation. One may struggle to communicate on certain topics while another child may excel within that area which could help the other child. 3

Technology o Technology has become more popular in today's generation. Technology is TVs, tablets, cell phones, computers/laptops, Alexas, googles, etc. Technology use could be both a positive and a negative connotation as there is more apps out there to help teach children t provides students with access to information they could not otherwise obtain (Ormrod & Jones, 2018). But then it takes away from teachers who go through all their schooling to teach to be replaced by a tablet or computer. Presentation title 4
Culture and Society Culture is shared beliefs in a child's family. Their culture can have an impact on how a child learns and interacts with their peers at school. Because one's culture, a teacher must diverse their teaching for their students based on culture. Society is people who are in a particular community who share the same beliefs and values. Society can play a big factor on children and how they behave and play with others around them. 5
Instructional Strategies When giving instructions in the classroom, it’s important for teachers to help children understand what is expected of them but to help them succeed in the classroom as well. Social Interactions: We can group the children together based off the student's ability and/or interest, giving positive reinforcement for their efforts, and encouraging the students for their interactions with their peers. We could see these through small groups, large groups, outside time when children are using their imaginations for play. Culture: The way that culture can be addressed can be through open conversations about culture, posters, paperwork in home languages, books that show different cultures, dramatic play areas if your age group calls for it. Instructional Strategies (cont) Society: Society can be addressed through discussions about social issues such as poverty, health care reform and education reform (Gaias et al., 2019). Depending on the age group you teach will determine what kind of discussions you can have with your students as you may need to keep it towards their education level. Technology: We can address technology by allowing a certain time to use tablets/computers to enhance their learning from earlier in the day. You can use learning apps that help with language arts/reading and math that could help children progress more in your classroom. Presentation title 7
Modify Classroom 1 Something I’d like to include in my classroom is to help social interaction with the children who are coming into my classroom to help them feel comfortable, welcomed, and respected. I would like to spend a week learning about our peers through pictures brought in of their families, showing their cultures, and beliefs. Sharing their favorite foods, books, tv shows, movies, etc. By encouraging the children to share with the class, they can find others who have the same interests and hobbies as them which will allow more communication and social interaction to take place. Modify Classroom 2 Something I liked from previous jobs working in childcare is having culture day. Culture day will allow children to bring in foods from their culture, or even items that represent their culture if your school has a strict no food policy due to allergies. I think including this will show children that you care for their culture and want to learn about their culture. It allows children to feel welcomed and respected at school and to feel that though they may be different than most, they are still unique and belong. Presentation title 9
