ABS 415 WK 3 DIS 1 As per Daft (2018), the text defines followership as the stage in which those aspiring to be leaders acquire and use the competencies that are important for leaders to have. It is believed that there are five distinct categories of "followers" that can be identified: conformist, pragmatic survivor, alienated follower, passive follower, and effective follower. Although an alienated follower is a capable autonomous thinker, they may have been the victim of injustices or failures that have left them cynical and engaged at a passive level (Daft, 2018). High engagement and initiative are characteristics of proactive followers. In addition to actively participating in decision-making, they bring fresh perspectives and solutions. Following established protocols and norms, conformist followers favor preserving the status quo. Disapproval and criticism of the organization are common among alienated followers. When given instructions, passive followers usually comply without question or initiative. Hypothesis: To be a successful follower, one must be driven, obey orders, finish work as given, and support efforts. Assisting people in realizing their goals and listening to them are key traits of good followers. Think about it, when individuals are inspired individuals who possess the capacity for critical thinking necessary for achieving company objectives, the company with successful followership typically performs effectively. A thriving labor force is characterized by elevated levels of drive, output, and involvement. A successful workplace is one where employees feel valued and respected and are confident in their abilities to contribute to the company's success. Maintaining a healthy workforce is crucial for a career in behavioral health, as it affects not just the leader but also employees at all levels. For a workforce to be prosperous and effective, team members' overall well-being must be taken into account by leadership. It's crucial to remember that different companies thrive in different ways, so when a team learns how to work together effortlessly, you're starting to get close to having a thriving workforce. Diversity in age can both strengthen and complicate managing techniques. Technology is, as we all know, developing daily and becoming more and more prevalent in offices. Although younger employees might have an easier time adjusting to new tactics and technologies, they might have trouble navigating conventional hierarchical structures. Conversely, older workers may feel more at ease in conventional settings but find it difficult to use modern technology. Because it enables individuals to contribute their distinct perspectives, diversity in the workplace encourages creativity and innovation (Daft, 2018).
Demonstrating awareness and adjusting to communication preferences and styles to regularly provide training or recaps and keep everyone informed. These are necessary for effectively controlling the hierarchy. It is possible to cultivate a positive working environment and boost productivity inside the company by requesting feedback from your managers and demonstrating a willingness to take on new assignments. These behaviors also show how committed you are to developing both personally and professionally. Reference Daft, R.L. (2018). The leadership experience (7th ed.). https://content.uagc.edu/
