Leadership Self-assessment 2 Theory X n Y of Leadership Thinking about the two theories, and which each one talks about, I would say that due to my personality traits and behavior, I align myself with the Y theory. I have not had the opportunity to lead people for long period of time, but when I had lead people for few times, I give liberty to them to do their duties and when needed talk and consult with all team members to evaluate a situation and take a decision that everyone agrees with. I expected my result to be more related to what the theory Y states. I got a score of 30 which is basically theory Y, but getting close to a midpoint between the two theories which I would interpret like I mainly will use theory Y and for some specific points I will use some measures of theory X. The scales helped me realize and label myself as a sympathizer and ambusher of theory Y. This self-assessment highlights my friendly, proactive way to interact with others to meet the needs of the team and being able to overcome issues using by using most of the time theory Y. For some specific scenarios, requires theory X to be used. So, using both theories, my leadership style could be successful. According to the result, I think that a change of my behavior and procedures to lead will not be necessary. However always basing myself primarily on the Y rather than the X theory and analyzing the current situation I am dealing with, my first option will be theory Y, only if it is appropriate, I would combine with some techniques of theory X as my second option.
