Which scenario did you choose? Paste your 300-500 word essay response to the team scenario in the box below. Greg Kosmerl SCI 195 1 Health Care Team 2 Lab Team 3 Business Team 4 Design Team There is an enormous amount of miscommunication, misunderstanding, and understandable social barriers or differences present in this scenario. Consequently, the first step that I would take to resolve the issues would be to first talk to the US manger alone. This is the person with the most power and ultimately the man in charge
Powered by Qualtrics A alone. This is the person with the most power and ultimately the man in charge responsible for understanding his counterparts and guiding them towards business success. As a result, he should understand how each employee acts and why they may act the way they do. Clearly, this is not present currently in this scenario. The manager is constantly confused and upset that his style is not similar to those he is working with and, frankly, not working to his liking. So, as the first step, I would meet with the manager to ensure that he understands who his employees are, how and why they communicate, how and why they act in a business setting, and how and why the solve problems or follow direction or the mangers commands. With this new understanding, the mangers now has a base to go off of when he begins to be confused by certain employee actions. By understanding culture and other outside factors that, without a doubt, affect communication, action, and direction following, the manager can change his/her communication based off of the scenario at hand. Next, I would bring each employee together and have a similar conversation with the full group of employees. By ensuring their own understanding of their surroundings, own actions, and resulting effects, an overall understanding is achieved. No longer should the employees and managers alike become confused because of contradictory actions or confused comments. Instead, since each employee has an understanding of their fellow workers, and the manager understands his counterparts, the business as a whole will work with each other to clearly communicate and act with that understanding in mind. Instead of relying on assumptions and implying actions to guide the business, this new way of acting will provide a confusion free, simplified workplace. Someone else might go about fixing this business by fully changing the business structure. Instead of relying on communication, which currently leads to confusion, the manager may change his/her ways of hiring to only hire those who make him/her feel comfortable. By completely rearranging the business to align with his preferences and goals, the manager ensures no confusion, but also lacks diversity and diverts from the original goal of the business mission. At that point there is not cultural diversity and probably much less hospitality.
