Chapter 3 Meeting Summary Current teachers who are recently out of college came to talk to us about their opinions and tips/tricks for student teaching, edTPA, behavior management, and transitioning through the years. They explained to us that edTPA is not as bad as people make it out to be. In addition, they explained the importance of behavior management in the classroom and establishing boundaries and respect rather than becoming friends with the students. They discussed their experiences in their first few years of teaching and how it has benefited them. They also discussed the differences between student teaching and first-year teaching and the change in writing lesson plans. They discussed their experiences in their diverse school districts and how it has affected their teaching methods/strategies. They explained how much fun they are having in their classrooms and how Liberty University has prepared them well for writing lesson plans and being in the classroom.
