ORG/716: Organizational Theory And Design Wk 5 Discussion 2 Errinda A. & Lofti B. (2021) explain that Lewin’s three-stage model is considered the theoretical foundation of planned change management. This model involves three main steps for managing planned change: unfreezing, transition, and refreezing. “Unfreezing” consists of destabilizing the status quo by creating the need and buy-in for change and preparing for the upcoming change. “Transition” involves moving to the desired future state. “Refreezing” takes place after the implementation of the change, resulting in a new culture, behaviors, and practices. In my current organization the credentialing team has incurred a change to the credentialing cycle, going from doing them every two years to doing them every three years, starting 2024. Unfreezing: The team had a meeting with the management team, including all the service chiefs, to identify why the change was needed and to understand why it was necessary. Changing from two years to three seems minute at first but once we all got to see the full process and how much more we could improve in all aspects of our job by extending the time, everyone saw the need for change. Transition: During this phase we held a few team sessions to help redesign the forms we used, templates that were specific for the two-year process and had staff meetings with our departments to train them on the new procedures. Refreezing: We are currently in this phase, we are still coming across some issues with getting everything transferred to the new three-year model, we have monthly meetings for training and monitoring the change.
