If only 20% of the managers noted ‘formal education and training’ (like this class) – how would you plan to gain experience and practice in management in the ‘school of hard knocks’? Explain. I would plan to gain experience by trial and error. Jumping in with both feet and reacting and handling situations in the way I felt was right, the way I would want to be treated if I was the employee while also implementing company policies. Question 2: There are some things that managers lose when they become managers. Do you think most managers actively think about these things as they are considering a promotion into management? Why or why not. No, I do not think most managers think about the things they will lose while considering a promotion. Most will be focused on the tasks, salary and perks of the promotional position rather than on the things they could be losing. Question 3: The text notes factors involved in managerial functions. Which of those factors do you think that you would be best at? I think I would be best at Decision Making, Communicating, Motivating and Leading.
