Section 3 Case Study
All group members must work together and develop an analysis of
Course Outcome (what groups of students need to know, show, and/or do) connected to this Evaluation
Examining business sustainability within the global hospitality industry and in individual operations.
Analyzing events and risks that can impact the sustainability of a business, including financial, social, and environmental factors.
Providing recommendations to mitigate the risks.
Students will be enrolled in the groups automatically.
Each group of students (consisting of 4 to 5 students) must answer the questions below in their
Analysis assignment
(Max 8 pages excluding reference list) and a
maximum 10-minute presentation
(in-class). These questions relate directly to the Case Study of the
Scandic Hotels,
a leading hotel group in the Scandinavian region that students need to read, cite, and reference from in their assignment and presentation (Must use
APA@Conestoga
)
First Step:
All group members must work together and develop an analysis of
Scandic Hotels
. Members are responsible for reporting any issue within the group to the course instructor. Groups are required to write up to an 8-page assignment
(the reference list is not included within this 8-page limit) worth 25 marks.
Particularly, if any member does not satisfy the responsibilities mentioned in the contract, students must report ASAP.
Students who do not work closely with their group members and fully deliver their responsibilities in the group will lose marks in both the Group submission

Develop an in-depth discussion and offer at least two approaches and how they can improve their mitigation actions in a way that supports the company's business drivers and the SDGs initiatives. Tips: Make sure you also consider what opportunities these events can provide for the company and how the business can better use these opportunities.

Second Step:
1.
All group members must work together and develop a presentation in PowerPoint based on their analysis assignment. All group members
must attend and participate in the presentation.
All group members who attend and participate in the presentation will earn the same grade out of 10 for the presentation (Group Submission - PowerPoint). The group’s ability to deliver the presentation will be marked: Could the group clearly discuss the material within the 10-
minute limit? Could the group PowerPoint clearly deliver the message? Is the PowerPoint clean, clear, and accessible? Did the group clearly use the appropriate APA in-text citation and final referencing? And etc.
2.
Each student will also receive an individual mark for their presentation skills (7 marks), including Verbal Communication, Body Language, Voice Projection, Posture, Stage Presence, etc. If a student does not attend the participation with an approved absence, a grade of
zero
will be earned by the student for their individual evaluation.
Students do not need to submit any documents to the designated folder.
Required Submission for the Group Presentation

One copy of the presentation slides per group is due in the Group Submission PowerPoint Folder
by
Feb 21 at 12:00 p.m. EST

The presentations are held in the class on Feb 21
from 13:00 to 15:00 p.m. EST.
Presentation Delivery Guidelines
Groups will have a
maximum of 10
minutes to present.
All group members must be present for the presentation and actively participate, or they will receive a “0” for this portion of the grade.
Groups will use Microsoft PowerPoint slides.
The presentation should be organized and rehearsed to add clarity and appropriate flow.
PowerPoint Slides should be simple and easy to follow. Do not put too much information or images on the slides. Draw upon what you learned in COMM8090 about effective presentations!
Group members should not read the information off the slides.
The audience for the presentation should be the CEO of
Scandic Hotels
. This means that business-appropriate language and conduct should be displayed throughout the presentation.
The presentation should i
nclude data and details from the case in the presentation that are cited and referenced according to APA @ Conestoga guidelines and formatting.
