Module Four Journal Self-Analysis Strengths While reviewing the Leadership cluster, I found many strengths I possess. First, I would consider the strength of “Leading the organization”. I can relate to this through my work as a police officer, where you work as a team but primarily you are by yourself when making decisions and acting. You have analyzed a problem, assessed the situation and quickly problem solved the issue without guidance. This leads to taking risks and thinking outside of the box to safely and efficiently solve a problem to keep everyone safe and deter crime in the future. Although you must rely on others at times as a leader, you need to take initiative and guide others with you to help navigate the organization and educate others to be leaders too. Which also allows me to show integrity, ethics, purpose, and time management as a strength. Weaknesses While reviewing the Leadership Cluster, I found that asking for help is a weakness for myself. As a leader, I want to be able to prove that I can handle the situation, educate individuals on the situation, and move forward with my team efficiently and quickly. Personally, I feel as if you ask for guidance and/or help on how to do something, or what to do next, then you are not ready to be a leader because you are not prepared to face any issues that might arise. What I have realized is that this is the opposite, and it provides an opportunity for you to become a better leader and show faith in your co-workers.
Strategies Moving forward I will seek knowledge and wisdom from professionals who are currently performing this work and ask for guidance and shadow their daily responsibilities to learn about becoming more proficient in this area. While also attend training courses and seminars relevant to this work and job responsibilities to further educate myself in the knowledge and skills necessary to be an expert in this field.
