Be as descriptive as you are comfortable being in this open forum. Note: You are not required to share your score with others. A link to the SafeAssign page on Campus is provided in the Resources.
Were you surprised by the results of the SafeAssign report (whether positive or negative)? Explain your answer.
When I was in undergrad, my professors required me to turn in all my assignments to a plagiarism tool called Turn It In, which is identical to SafeAssign. I found the tool to be very user friendly and helpful! I was not surprised by the results of my Unit 1 Discussion 1 in SafeAssign due to being familiar with the plagiarism tool and having an idea of what to expect.
What did the SafeAssign report show you about your use of citations to reflect the work of others you may have integrated to support your analysis of historical trends in clinical mental health counseling?
SafeAssign showed me that I received a 66% overall match, which resulted in 37% from the Internet, 21% from institutional database, and 8% from global databases. Although the score did seam unsettling, I reviewed why it was flagged as plagiarism. Majority of what was flagged as plagiarism was direct quotes that were correctly cited, the direct headings of what the assignment required, and the entire reference list. I was relieved to see that the work I completed was 100% my work. Based on the SafeAssign report and your discussion with your peers, what would you change about your post to the Unit 1 discussion if you had an opportunity to do it over?
Based on my results, even though it resulted in a 66% match for plagiarism, I would not change my Unit 1 Discussion 1 post if I had the opportunity to do it over. Every word that I wrote and formed contained my complete thoughts, and SafeAssign can show that. Although, in the case if there were certain ideas that were plagiarized within my post, I would most certainly do it over again. Most importantly, I would pay close attention to the sources I use, the way I form my thoughts, as well as checking beforehand for plagiarism using SafeAssign before I submit the actual assignment.
