Part 1:
Joey’s Little Angels
is a nonprofit organization created by a mother and father in honor of
their late son. James and Nicole Angiolino, who reside in New Jersey, had a son named Joseph Thomas Angiolino. Joey was born on April 6th, 2009, and just 7 months into his life, he was diagnosed with a rare disease called Hurler’s Syndrome. Children who are diagnosed with Hurler
syndrome lack an enzyme that the body needs to digest sugar
(Escolar, 2023). These undigested sugars will build up in the body and damage the brain, heart, and other organs. Doctors told James and Nicole that if Joey did not receive treatment, he would become blind, deaf, mentally and physically handicapped, and die by the age of 5 (Angiolino, 2010). James and Nicole did everything they could to give Joey a normal life and to save him but unfortunately, he lost his battle on July 16th, 2010. Since Joey’s passing, his family has started the organization Joey’s Little Angels
. The name for their organization was quite simple since “Angiolino” is Italian for Little Angel! Through toy drives and special events, James and Nicole donate to many charities, hospitals, and organizations throughout the year in hopes to help save lives and get children the medical care they need. The Angiolino family continues to march on and speak about Joey daily.
Part2:
"At Joey's Little Angels
, our vision is a world where every child's potential is nurtured, every family thrives, and every community is united in support of the most vulnerable among us.
We are committed to creating a future where children experience love, care, and opportunity, regardless of their circumstances, and where our organization serves as a beacon of compassion, innovation, and empowerment."
Our vision statement begins by emphasizing a world where "every child's potential is nurtured," which highlights the importance of inclusivity and equal opportunities for all. This reflects one of Joey’s Little Angels’ core values of treating every child with dignity and respect. "Every family thrives" signifies the organization's dedication to not only the children but also their families, as we understand that a child's well-being is linked to their family's well-being. We believe that this reinforces the idea that Joey's Little Angels
supports holistic family development. We decided it was crucial to implement the idea of a "united" community, as it stresses the importance of community involvement in achieving the organization's goals. The idea of being united also reflects the devotion to creating partnerships and collaborations within the community to better support children and their families. We chose the term "innovation" to highlight the organization's commitment to finding creative solutions to any and all challenges that may face these children and their families. Also, innovation implies a progressive approach to problem-solving. We included the word "empowerment" to indicate that Joey's Little Angels doesn't just provide aid but also aim to equip these families with the tools and resources they need to live self-sufficient lives. The vision statement as a whole acts as an inspiration to bring staff, volunteers, and donors to work together.
Part 3:
Welcome to our first staff meeting. I am pleased to be here today with each one of you to discuss
our goals, strategies, and initiatives to help our organization succeed. As the new CEO of Joey’s Little Angels
, I want us to build a strong foundation of trust and communication. (Northouse, 2018) It is very important to me to keep you all motivated to do your best, and I will always do my best to be “attentive to the needs and motives of [you all] and try to help you reach [your] fullest potential” (Northouse, 2018 p. 164). Just as our core values at Joey’s Little Angels’
consist
of treating every child with dignity and respect, I encourage us all to treat each other with the same dignity and respect. Before we begin, I am grateful for your hard work, dedication, and commitment to our mission. We have lots of work to do with setting up events and collecting donations to ensure the children
and their families receive the care and assistance that they need, as it is our moral duty. Please remember to practice self-care, get necessary rest, and take breaks to avoid becoming burnt out. Your contributions are invaluable, and I am excited to work alongside you to achieve our shared goals.
Today, we will discuss some exciting new initiatives and strategies we will implement in the coming weeks. I encourage you to share your thoughts and ideas as we value every team member's input.
As we move forward, let us continue to work together, collaborate, and support each other to achieve our objectives and positively impact our community. Thank you all for being here today, and I look forward to a productive and successful meeting.
