2 Coaching Plan for Addressing Ethical Situations with Veronica As the director, it is imperative to handle ethical issues with staff members like Veronica, who exhibit great dedication to assisting families but may unintentionally breach professional lines. This coaching strategy explains how to deal with Veronica positively and offer her support while keeping ethical standards in mind. Veronica had the best intentions when she took those actions and truly wanted to help those families. However, because of potential boundary violations, some of her behaviors can be viewed as unethical: Bringing supplies to families' homes - While bringing supplies to families' homes without their permission or following a clear organizational protocol is ethical, doing so could be perceived as a breach of that principle. The confidentiality of families must be respected to act professionally - Allowing late pickups: It may be considered unethical to let Victor pick up his kids late without publicly addressing the situation. It can jeopardize the children's safety by interfering with the center's routines and activities. Coaching Method: Sit-Down Meeting I'll set up a meeting with Veronica to talk about the matter. A face-to-face meeting is more intimate and conducive to open discussion. During this discussion, I will utilize a supportive, non-confrontational coaching approach centered on ethical and best leadership practices (Northouse, 2018). Rationale: A sit-down meeting offers a controlled and confidential setting for discussing delicate topics. It enables a concentrated discourse and makes sure Veronica is made to feel heard and respected. Supporting ethical conduct and leadership:
3 According to the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), effective communication through face-to-face meetings fosters team members' trust and understanding. Research published in the "Journal of Early Childhood Teacher Education" highlights the value of routine gatherings to discuss moral dilemmas and uphold professionalism. Coaching Strategy for Veronica: Ethical Assessment: Before resolving the matter, it is critical to determine whether Veronica's interaction with Victor broke any bounds. I intend to: i. Examine the early childhood education code of ethics and conduct, highlighting the need to establish proper limits (Lamb & Fallesen, 2019). ii. Examine Veronica's behaviors to see if they violate certain ethical principles. Ethical Evaluation Rationale: Understanding whether or not boundaries have been violated is critical in establishing the ethical nature of the situation and directing our behavior accordingly. Initial Interactions and Actions: When I understand more about the problem, I will: i. Send Veronica an email seeking a meeting to address work-related issues and her development plan. This is a professional approach that helps her to prepare for the debate. ii. During the meeting, thank Veronica for her effort to help families and acknowledge her good intentions. iii. Discuss particular issues about limits, such as delivering products to the family's house and allowing late pickups. To promote the well-being of workers and families, emphasize the need to preserve professional boundaries.

4 iv. Propose an alternate way to family support that is ethically sound. Encourage families to collaborate in identifying their needs and recommending external services that can help. v. Give specifics on the YMCA's more extended hours, shuttle service, payment method, IDHF, and the Family Focus method. Explain how these services can effectively serve families while being ethical. vi. Inquire with Veronica about her thoughts on the topic and her suggested methods for continuing to serve families while respecting professional limits. Suggestions for a Different Approach to the Situation: I could have done the following to improve the outcome: i. I conducted regular check-ins and advised Veronica on how to preserve professional boundaries with children. ii. Instead of taking matters into her own hands, I encouraged Veronica to submit her concerns to the proper authority. Advocacy Support for Veronica: Follow-up Action Steps: For Veronica, I suggest that she attend a workshop or training session on the professional limits of early childhood education. Rationale: By taking this action, Veronica will improve her knowledge of the value of upholding boundaries while supporting families and advancing her career. For Victior, I will give him information on community resources that are accessible, such as the YMCA's more extended hours and shuttle service, IDHF, and the Family Focus Program. Educate him so he can decide what is best for his family.
