Georgia Williams RE: Discussion - Week 4 COLLAPSE The ‘outside- the –box’ strategy I would suggest as a human resource manager is offering fitness and gym compensation to employees. Currently, every citizen is worried about their weight, mainly due to the emerging diseases related to issues of weight, and lack of exercise. People are unable to balance work and still hit the gym, so I think giving them an hour in the morning or the evening for paid gym services in the company gym would attract diverse workforce (Gibson, 2010). Employees will consider this offer because gym services are expensive, and it is hard sometimes to balance work, gym, and family. Moreover, when employees get free gym services, they will adapt a healthy lifestyle. It will be helpful to reduce work stress, and pressure. This will aid in reducing a number of causes of illness and sick offs. Moreover, the employees' energy levels, morale, and moods will be improved. This will increase their work performance at the benefit of the company. It will also help in retaining employees through loyalty (Gibson, 2010). To attract the highest number of employees, I would advertise that gym services will be offered every morning and evening. Moreover, the employees are allowed a free ticket to just one member of the family. Either a mother, a wife, or a sister; but it must be one. However, this option will be for those with high experience and income. Involving a family member will make the employees feel that we really care about their health as well as their families’. All employees will be allowed gym services regardless of their age, backgrounds, income bracket, or level of experience. However, the employees with the highest experience will be allowed all gym services, such as gym, aerobics, and the spa, while the other will only be allowed the gym. References Gibson, P. (2010). Bernardo Castillo RE: Discussion - Week 4 COLLAPSE Bernardo Castillo Jr Walden University March 22, 2021 Human Resource Management Dr. Kelley Lovati Compensation is huge in the world of business and is often the make it or break it of relationships between companies and employees. How much a company is able to compensate employees often depends on how big the company is in size, meaning the more corporate the business the stricter and more linear compensation becomes. This does not mean that corporate companies do not compensate well, this just means that their terms and policies become tight and less flexible to change per individual’s life circumstances. In Talkapolis’ video “ The entrepreneurial minute: Ways to compensate your employees? ” Dr. Cornwall mentions that one of the biggest and most successful forms of compensation is flexibility. It can make all the difference for mothers with children, or any other employee in their diverse group with other responsibilities in life they need to attend to. Perks such as future- changing rewards is another form of compensations that satisfies employees in ways of leading a head in developing their skills for growth within the company or for future career opportunities (Bodell, 2014). Being flexible such as the bank that I work for, given that we are very understaffed and on the lower end of pay than competing banks in our area, the bank offers to pay tuition for those who are full time employees and are in search to advance their knowledge by gaining a college degree. It has its stipulations such as classes associated to finance or business, along with proof of passing grades before any tuitions is paid by the bank. But this kind of compensation works wonders for employees because it is all into their betterment and investment of themselves. Aiding with a boost in life and career with a college degree as well as development of skills and knowledge. In return, the company gains an employee who is inspired, influenced, and willing to put effort in their work for the benefits they receive in return. More often times than not there is a very diverse group of people within the staff of a company, differing in ways such as age, background, income brackets, and even levels of expertise, and so having a method/system of compensation that works across the board can be difficult at times. Fortunately this form of compensations is flexible and works for the majority. College and degrees are able to be attended and are obtainable at any age in life or income bracket, because reimbursement for your tuitions for lower level is either a life saver or for those in a higher level it is a nice way to save money. Many times manages of Banks are required to have a BA, but could strive for other degrees within finance/business or even reach for specific certifications that the bank will cover that go toward dealing with investments and leading.
