A. Describe the ethical conflict that Robert Manning is facing. Ethics in accounting practices- Companies must follow correct bookkeeping procedures in order to comply with laws. It's a severe problem when unethical accounting procedures are used, especially by publicly listed corporations. In order to safeguard shareholders and customers, the law lays out standards for financial reports. Regardless of the size of the firm, all organizations are required to maintain correct financial records and file taxes in order to attract investment and business partners (Indeed, 2022). Robert Manning is facing ethics in accounting practices, because he has to be aware of the most recent updates to the company's financial position in every store. Collecting all of that data and comparing it to that of the other stores is difficult, and each store manager is challenged to earn bonuses for good performance. If store managers lack motivation, they may not perform tasks correctly and may engage in unethical behavior. B. As the president and CEO of SportsMax, how might you motivate Robert Manning to provide an accurate operating budget? External Motivation: Managers that are externally driven put in a lot of effort to gain praise, money, or promotions (or possibly even to stay out of trouble or get fired). External motivation is increased by a competitive salary package and prospects for recognition and growth. Internal Motivation: Self-interested managers are driven by their own ideals, objectives, and interests. They are operating in line with their true selves, which differs from management to manager (Lester & Graves, 2016). If I were the CEO of the firm, I would definitely appreciate the managers who work together with me as partners, pay attention to their internal and external motivators, and unquestionably provide managers incentives for contributing to and attaining the goals and objectives of the organization. Every objective strategy is revealed by any rewards. Managers that are externally driven work very hard for recognition, rewards, or promotions. A competitive salary and the presence of advancement opportunities boost external motivation. Reference: Indeed.
