2 The Implications of Biometrics in the Workplace Biometrics has changed the way people interact with technology as it provides a verification system that is both secure and convenient. As a result, interest in biometrics is growing, particularly in the workplace ( Holland & Tham, 2022) . Biometric recognition technologies are now used in various workplace environments, including access control, attendance tracking, and computer access control. As biometric technologies continue to improve, their potential use in the workplace will continue to grow ( Holland & Tham, 2022) . However, there have been numerous concerns about the implication biometrics may have in the workplace, which creates serious questions that form an important research topic. Problem Statement The current trend of biometric systems being used in the workplace makes it important to understand the implications of biometric recognition on the security, privacy, cost-effectiveness, and overall convenience of the workplace. As work environments expand, security and privacy are paramount concerns ( Brown, 2020) . If biometric recognition is implemented in the workplace, it has the potential to both enhance and diminish the security and privacy of the workplace. Consequently, there is a need to understand better the security, privacy, useability, cost-effectiveness, and overall convenience of biometric verification systems in the workplace. This research proposal investigates the implications of biometric recognition technologies for security, privacy, media and technological literacy, cost-effectiveness, and overall workplace convenience. This proposal seeks to answer the following questions: What are the implications of biometric recognition technologies for security, privacy, media and technological literacy, cost-effectiveness, and overall workplace convenience?
3 How can biometric recognition technologies be used to enhance or diminish the security, privacy, media and technological literacy, cost-effectiveness, and overall convenience of the workplace? How can the implications of biometric recognition technologies be mitigated to ensure the security, privacy, media and technological literacy, cost-effectiveness, and overall convenience of the workplace? What are the implications for the future of biometric recognition technologies in the workplace? By considering the implications of biometric recognition technologies for the security, privacy, media and technological literacy, cost-effectiveness, and overall convenience of the workplace, this project will provide valuable insights into the future of biometrics. Through this research, this project aims to develop a comprehensive understanding of the implications of biometric recognition technologies for the security, privacy, media and technological literacy, cost-effectiveness, and overall convenience of the workplace ( Brown, 2022) . Through this understanding, this project seeks to develop best practices for implementing biometric recognition systems in the workplace and recommendations for mitigating the potential negative implications of biometric technologies.
