A4 - BACKGROUND TO THE POTENTIAL TOPIC OF STUDY
Briefly introduce your topic, giving an indication of why you think it would
provide valuable outcomes and for who.
Also identify any reading that you
may have done relevant to the topic, any key writers in the field and how your
research might contribute to the existing knowledge base on the subject.
In the last several decades, tourism has spread around the world. It is well
known for its contribution to regional and national economic development and
has been one of the economic sectors in the world with the quickest rate of
growth. In terms of creating jobs locally, increasing tax income, and fostering
economic variety, the tourism industry is thought to be promising. A notable
increase in tourism research has occurred in these countries since the 1970s.
For many nations, particularly the economically developed ones, tourism has
proven to be an essential part of their economy and well-being. The rise of the
tourism industry has helped certain developing nations enhance their
economic status in recent times. In general, a number of worries about the
possible repercussions of tourist development have led to a significant
demand for thorough planning and methodical study on how tourism affects
the standard of living of the local population. The attitude and conduct of
locals towards visitors and tourism-related activities in their communities is a
significant issue that has been covered in the literature over time and has a
growing impact on the tourism development industry. By evaluating the
social, environmental, and political effects of Jeddah's Al-balad on domestic
tourism, important stakeholders—the citizens of the host country—may be
influenced by their perceptions of how tourism would affect their quality of
life.
