Task EIGHT
George et. al (2005). The LSS (Lean Six Sigma) pocket toolbook. (PAGE FOUR ON).
Hall and Scott (2016). LSS: A beginner’s guide to understanding and practicing LSS.
……………………………………………………………………………………
A few rough notes from the
TEAM meeting on 09/11/2023
regarding task eight:
The ADRP (Applied Doctoral Research Project) case study template has information on what we
will write about and bracketing which was not noted on the ADRP consulting template and
applies.
Make sure to use the newest template with those cover (sign off sheets) especially on
administrative reviews.
When we get to doing the study, we will have between 15-30 participants.
Use literature to support and define our study.
I am the data collector, the instrument.
When will bracketing start, continue, and end, and how will we know it?
Types and methods used for bracketing.
Four types of triangulations three of the four will not be used (not appropriate?).
Quantitative data analysis picks a LSS tool.
LSS text page four, what is the purpose, how to define the problem, how to analyze the problem.
Control who has the plan and will be implemented and be responsible for it.
How to define/measure.
DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control) (
Improve NOT Implement)
error
in
the guide.
George et al. (2005) LSS pocket toolbook text pages FOUR +
Another useful source is a textbook by Hall and Scott (2016) LSS: A beginner’s guide to
understanding and practicing LSS.
DMAIC is a process used when implementing LSS tools.
Which step in DMAIC is the LSS tool(s).
(a) Chosen
(b) Implemented
(c)
Understand root causes of problem
How the selected LSS tool(s) might.
(a)
Develop solution
(d) Implement solution
How to define/measure the problem.
Ways in which the selected tool(s) used to confirm/validate solution is appropriate.
Use literature to answer the above questions.
Then provide information/answer on what we/I will do for each step in the study.
(Note to self: Be more prepared and alert).

APA Style 7th Edition Refresher for Instructors
Date & Time Oct 18, 2023, 12:00 PM
Description
In this online seminar, APA Style experts will provide a refresher on seventh-
edition APA Style guidelines for instructors who want to ensure that they are
providing up-to-date guidance for students. We will discuss the basics of
seventh edition APA Style guidelines, how the guidelines have changed from
earlier editions, how you can help students learn the seventh edition, and
which outdated guidelines (zombie guidelines) and APA Style myths (ghost
guidelines) to watch out for! Unable to attend? That is OK! Register, and you
will be emailed a link to view the recording about a week after the online
seminar. *Please note, this online seminar does not provide CE credit.

Task EIGHT:
Hints/Tricks to spot anthromorphisms: “The study will explore” NO. Can this
thing do that? Do NOT apply human characteristics to something that is NOT
human.
Semistructured is one word NO hyphens.
Intro is short and concise normally without any cites, one paragraph normally
and a paragraph can be 5-8 sentences with a max of 12.
Purpose section just copy and paste from prior
approved task.
Role of the researcher, first paragraph is past tense with literature. In the
second paragraph, future tense includes ‘I am the instrument and what
actions I will take. NO discussion here on triangulation, biases, bracketing,
and no cites here. Look for themes and code the data.
Bracketing when does it start, continue, and end, the purposes and methods
used, two paragraphs. First one, ‘I will use
......
’
Overview of organization, no literature here, NO company name, what is the
problem, be broad, 5-6 sentences can include history of company.
If using semistructure interviews with open-ended questions as qualitative
data and then surveys as quantitative to triangulate it, those asked to
participate must be two different groups with different questions and provide
a rationale for using them.
LSS DMAIC tools for the five phases can use the same tool(s), if use too many
may make the project too long/difficult, DO NOT need a new/different tool for
each of the steps.
In the control phase is to create a corrective action plan from Task 13 for
more info.

Remember this is to help and from a leader's perspective.
Summary again be concise, no new info normally no cites unless trying to be
robust, normally one paragraph with 5-8 sentences with 12 as a max.
IRB (Institutional Review Board) is, what we state we WILL DO in this paper,
we WILL DO, do NOT include options/wiggle-room such as ‘I (could, should,
may, might, attempt to) DO. We will be the ONLY researcher, NO teams, or
others to assist in any way, shape, or form
When doing searches ‘flexible design’ is difficult fine to use just ‘qualitative’
as it is the same thing.
Track changes accept and delete turn off in settings. In the settings bar top
right change.

Notes I have for the meeting on 10/02/2023:
Do you want us to sign the cover sheets? Not needed at this point but will be required at
the end of the ADRP.
T9 notes:
Why they are eligible.
At least four sentences per paragraph.
Gaining access to how/to the participants in 1-2 sentences.
Discuss other types of sampling.
Invitation letter asking for permission from the CEO first, then request from HR for
access.
How do you know when you reach data saturation, and get repetitive answers?
Explain why/if someone drops out of participation.
Any clues or tricks for T10?
No deviations from what is proposed to IRB without having to redo prior approved
admin. reviewed tasks.
What we say here in these task(s) we WILL DO and MUST DO in the actual project or
redo the prior task and go through those admin. review processes again.
Always use two recording devices.
Interview questions are different from research questions and should be in past tense
and open-ended.
Recommend 8-9 questions with interviews approx. 30-45 minutes each.
Will use member checking as it is much faster than transcript review, which would be
subject to many time delays and repeated revisions.
The data collection plan is the recipe card. See appendix (in the first mention of it/not
needed for the further appendices mentions. Will need an invitation form, interview
guide, consent form, and survey questions in the appendices.
Archive data is the secondary quantitative source of data used for triangulation.
NVivo can be used to transcribe the interview, but I will be the one to collect data,
request documents, and ANALYZE the data. NVivo can organize it but cannot analyze
the data, I WILL code and ANALYZE the data. No need to do both interviews and
surveys. Do one or the other. I will do interviews, specifically in person and/or video with
dual recordings, listen to the recording, fix/clarify the issues/problems/errors, code, and
transcribe.
Does the school have a listing of businesses the doctoral students have worked with in
the past successful and helpful organizations for the program processes? Or ones to
avoid, which were non-helpful? No.
Once we get to T13, things will go faster.

Team meeting notes from 10/16/2023
Self-plagiarism at any point should be started by listing our prior tasks on our reference
page, as so many of some tasks are cut/pasted.
No need to list ourselves and prior tasks within the reference page as this project is
considered a 'working document.'
Since we are considered Doctoral Candidates, would that also mean we are at the ABD?
Not worth mentioning as most laypeople would not understand.
The change matrix form should be more detailed, to better communicate how the issue
listed by the reviewer is resolved, i.e. 'this is how I addressed it
....
". So, to increase our
feedback and understanding of the issue being reviewed. Do NOT make other changes
in the document than what is pointed out.
Do not do a transcript review in T9. Use member checking.
Use short content short letter which is harder than a long letter, and get to the point.
T10, anytime you mention a form, say, see appendices.
Approximate interview time length 30-45 minutes.
No personal pronouns, no third person.
Two recording devices.
Each recorded interview will be transcribed.
Member checking will be used (how it will be used is discussed).
Participants requested to provide documents if they discussed them.
Follow-up interviews might be needed.
Instruments, interview guide in the appendices
If survey or archive data is used, it must discuss how used and placed in the
appendices.
Interview questions must be 5-8, with perhaps two interview questions per research
question.
Think about how the responses might be and prepare for follow-up interviews/questions
that might be needed.
Be prepared early for the analysis section.
The LSS tools used, how and why a paragraph, not just a sentence.
No copies of the transcript to the participants, only a narrative review with the
participants.
If the participants say something is wrong, we must note it in the report.
Can ask for follow-up interviews during the initial interview and request follow-up via
email.
No new information or NO new sources in the summary.
How will we analyze the data? The Nvivo does NOT analyze the data. WE DO.
How will we code, what is coding, and how does the coding allow for developing
themes?
Excel can be used for coding so can other programs.
Refer to the leading authority and describe it using the literature.
Analysis for triangulation, the purpose of it, and how will it happen. LSS is a secondary
data source.
This quantitative tool will be used...
The findings can be long or short.
Reliability (discuss why) and validity (creditability, trustworthiness, dependability,
transferable, and confirmability, how data saturation, repetition of themes, triangulation
member checking, follow-up interviews,
how will we assure reliability and validity?
“Validity= = credibility transferability and confirmability Data saturation triangulation
member checking and follow-up interviews to ensure credibility.

Discuss bracketing.
This will be the entire operational plan for the actual project.
It is imperative that we everything we are writing about in T7 on we completely
understand because we will have an oral presentation on this in T12.
What is the role of the researcher is?
Difference between transcript review and member checking?
Make sure we know what all this stuff is!

Team meeting notes from 10/23/2023
Other notes:
Must avoid ANTHROMPOPHISMS, avoid jargon, make sure to use seriation.
Use the MEAL concept of writing. Paragraphs should normally be 4-5 sentences in length.
Use academic peer reviewed creditable sources with active DOI links within the past one to two
years old.
