Case Study Analysis 2 The case study entails decision making based on the need to change the current standard and marginal costing method to balanced scorecard approach at sustainable childcare Ltd. The firm has been operating through this method for years but with her competitor adopting the balanced scorecard, the CEO see it effective to adopt it. Therefore, as decision- makers, the following factors can be highlighted and used to make decision in a rational, interpretive and social-political base. 1. Rational factor: need to change the standard costing method to balanced scorecard 2. Interpretive factor: top managers demand to have a written report on the reasons why the current method needs to be changed 3. Socio-political factor: The difference in ideology between the three CEO’s in the need to change the current method. From the above lists, there are other factors which can be related to each list as shown below: Rational factors: This factor has the following elements as seen in the case study The organization works as a group with depth decision making process. All members of the firm have to be involved in the decision-making process Self interest of the CEO who wants to change the current method Rational actors who have to evaluate the need to change the current method Invisible hand of the top director who demands a report on the requirement for change of the current standard costing method. Interpretive factors: The following elements can be listed under this factor based on the case study Assumptions on the need to change the current method Emotions from other CEO’s on the need to adapt the balanced scorecard over the standard costing method

Socio-political perspective factors Internal political views from other CEO’s within the sustainable Childcare Ltd Regulations and decision-making pattern in the company Governance policies in decision making process Leadership impacts in financial decision-making process Difference in ideas based on the balanced scorecard influence on the performance of the firm.
