Scientific report = 20% of overall unit mark
Brief description of the assessment task
Students will consider current knowledge of Australian plants and animals and compare it with First Nation knowledge of the Country prior to colonisation.
Detail of student output
This is an individual task. Students will submit a written scientific research report in a prescribed format not exceeding a total of 6 pages. The report should include written critical interpretations of the information obtained through a literature search to justify interpretations and conclusions.
Learning intentions
Students will:
Develop their understanding of how Australia’s First Peoples interacted with the plants, animals, and environment, sustaining their culture for over 65,000 years.
Develop their understanding of the positives and negatives of how generative AI can be used to create written outputs.
Students will develop their evaluative judgement skills in the assessment of scientific literature.

Developed curiosity and respect for the knowledges of Australia’s First Peoples and their care of the country prior to colonisation.
