Module 1 Project – Design an Active Directory Forrest. Background ACME Widgets is a multinational corporation with several divisions. ACME clients include US and international manufacturers and some US military contractors. ACME Corporate structure: ACME Navigation - the largest division, is involved in design and manufacture of electronic components used in navigation and guidance systems. ACME IC– this division’s mission is to design and manufacture custom IC (integrated circuits) and specialty chips as a subcontractor to OEMs. ACME Software – this division provided outsourcing software development services. ACME Network Infrastructure Each ACME Widgets division is setup as a separate Active Directory domain. All divisions combined are currently deploying approximately 100 Windows 2016 servers (including virtual servers) located in 3 data center sites located in San Francisco (50 servers), Tampa (20 servers), and Shenzhen, China (30 servers) Distribution of Servers per Site San Francisco Site Tampa Site Shenzhen Site ACME Widgets Forest Root Domain 2 Servers ACME Navigation Child Domain 20 Servers 10 Servers 20 Servers ACME IC Child Domain 20 Servers 10 Servers ACME Software Child Domain 10 Servers 10 Servers Servers are deployed with the following roles and services: 1. File and storage services
2. Print and Fax services 3. Hosting Hyper-V deployment of Windows 10 virtual machines for remote user access in a Virtual Desktop Infrastructure environment. Other physical servers are hosting multiple Hyper-V virtual servers for software development projects. 4. Database servers hosting SQL applications 5. Web servers hosting company Internet and Intranet web sites. 6. Active Directory domain controllers and DNS servers. 7. DHCP servers 8. Certificate servers hosting company Certificate Authority 9. Application servers hosting custom applications. Project Deliverables ACME Widgets hired you as a consultant to help them improve the Active Directory Forrest and Site design. You are asked to design a Forest diagram and indicate site location and the number of Active Directory Domain Controllers and Global Catalogs to ensure proper Active Directory replication and seamless user logins. 1. Design the ACME Widgets Active Directory Forest using Visio. Create a separate Domain logical organization diagram and a separate Site replication diagram. a. Start by drawing a diagram of 4 domains with correct parent child connections between domains. Properly label all domain. Save the Visio diagram as a JPG image. Insert that JPG image of the Visio diagram in the picture place holder below b. Connect the 3 sites using site connectors and positions appropriate domains in each site. Properly label all domains and sites. Save the Visio diagram as a JPG image. Insert that JPG image of the Visio diagram in the picture place holder below

ACME Site Diagram
Complete the table below showing how many Domain Controllers and Global Catalog servers you recommend for each site. a. Indicate how many of the Domain Controllers assigned from each domain within a given site are also Global Catalogs. For every Global Catalog, there must be a corresponding Domain Controller. For example: if you select 2 domain controllers for ACME IC domain in the Tampa Site, and select 1 Global Catalog, this means that one of the 2 Domain Controllers is also a Global Catalog. ACME IC domain will still have a total of 2 DCs in that site. If you select 2 domain controllers and no Global catalogs, then indicate it by placing a “0” in the corresponding cell. If you select 1 Global Catalog for an ACME domain in a site, then there must be at least 1 Domain Controller selected in the same site. San Francisco Site Tampa Site Shenzhen Site Domain Controllers Global Catalogs Domain Controllers Global Catalogs Domain Controllers Global Catalogs ACME Widgets Domain 2 0 ACME Navigation Domain 2 1 1 1 2 1 ACME IC Domain 2 1 1 1 ACME Software Domain 1 1 1 1 References (required) List at least 2 references to support your decisions and recommendations. Make sure to use APA formatted references.
