HIMA410 Summer 2023 WK3 Discussion
The data architect oversees an organization's data architecture, ensuring
accuracy, safety, and accessibility. They collaborate with developers,
administrators, and analysts to establish and implement data modeling,
integration, and security strategies. Technical proficiency,
communication, and problem-solving skills are crucial for this role (Data
architect overview: What is a data architect? 2023). From the 1940s
through the 1970s, the process of programs was the main concern.
Every program was separated from other programs. There were simple
programs created to deal with distinct types of computer problems. In the
1980s, structured query language became the standard language.
Hierarchical database models became less popular once relational
databases expanded the database market. The internet also grew the
growth of the database industry in the mid-1990s. Data management
was also developed from an architecturally designed database. Data
Architecture has changed since its early days, and likely due to newer
trends such as the internet of things, cloud computing, microservices,
advanced analytics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence, and
emergent technologies like blockchain will continue to alter even further
into the future (Foote, 2022).
In the dynamic and complex world of healthcare, the role of a proficient
data architect cannot be overstated. The ability to design and implement
a robust data architecture framework that facilitates seamless data flow
and ensures the utmost data security is paramount to the success of any
healthcare organization. A skilled data architect offers valuable insights
and solutions that can enhance patient care, boost efficiency, lower
costs, and optimize staffing management. Thus, having an experienced
data architect on board is a wise investment for any healthcare
organization that desires optimal outcomes.
