True or False, Evaluation frameworks provide the skeleton structure for the evaluation through a basic set of ordered steps. Correct! True Chapter 14, page 305. Evaluation frameworks are "the skeleton of a plan that can be used to conduct an evaluation. It aids in focusing attention on important issues and puts in order the steps to be followed." False Question 2 1 / 1 pts Evaluation APPROACHES are... Correct! A certain way of thinking Chapter 14, page 305. Evaluation approaches "represent a certain way of thinking" and "help define the evaluation questions." A set of basic ordered steps used to guide data collection, analysis, and distribution Used to organize the daily tasks associated with the evaluation None of the above Question 3 1 / 1 pts Evaluation DESIGNS are... A certain way of thinking Based on participant knowledge and behaviors and used after the intervention is complete. Correct!
Detailed steps used to organize the daily tasks associated with the evaluation None of the above Question 4 1 / 1 pts Which of the following are examples of evaluation APPROACHES? CDC Evaluation Framework, PRECEED-PROCEDE Model, WHO Guidelines Correct! Systems-Analysis Approach, Objective-Oriented Approach, Consumer-Oriented Approach, Utilization-Focused Approach Chapter 14, pages 305-306 and 309. Systems-Analysis Approach is also called economic evaluation, the Objective-Oriented Approach is the most common evaluation approach used in Public Health. Consumer- Oriented Approach fills a customer protection capacity based on simple but well-defined checklists. Surveys, Focus Groups, Interviews, Observations Pre/Post Test, Time-Series, Post-Test Only Question 5 6 / 8 pts Match the evaluation APPROACH to its basic components. Each answer can only be used once. Correct! Efficiency based approach. This approach is also called economic evaluation and includes the follow analyses- Cost-Identification Analysis, Cost-Benefit Analysis, Cost-Effectiveness Analysis, and Cost-Utility Analysis. Findings are objective and often associated with a monetary value. Systems Analysis Approach (SAS) Correct!

Action based approach. This is most commonly used approach in health promotion evaluations. Evaluation is based in program goals and objectives. The values of the evaluator do not influence the objectivity of the evaluation. Objective Oriented Approach (OOA) Correct! Qualitative approach. This approach is the opposite of the Objective Oriented Approach (OOA) and assumes that evaluations should NOT be based on predetermined goals. This approach is rarely used alone and is usually combined with other evaluation approaches to add depth and detail. This method avoids classifying program effects as “secondary”. Goal Free Approach Correct! Collaborative approach. This approach is focused on identifying and meeting the information needs of decision makers to ensure that decisions are based on fair judgement and sound criteria. Evaluators and decision makers work together to identify decisions to be made and data needed to support that process. Management Oriented Approach Correct! Consumer Protection approach. This approach is focused on developing information for use by consumers in comparing competing products. This method utilizes checklists and criteria to rate products and programs. Consumer Oriented Approach Correct! Expert judgement approach. This approach is narrowly focused and utilizes period reviews, published standards, and a defined schedule. This is used to increase awareness and improve program standards. The most common example of this approach in action is program or facility accreditation. Expertise Oriented Approach You Answered Stakeholder approach. This is the only approach that focuses specifically on the expressed needs of the priority population or participants. This approach depends on inductive reasoning, grassroots observations, and information from other sources to understand the whole picture. Utilization Oriented Approach Correct Answer Participant Oriented Approach
You Answered Usefulness approach. This approach is based on the principle that the usefulness of an evaluation should be determined by the intended users. Primary users must be identified from the outset so that evaluation metrics can be developed through a collaboration between decision makers, evaluators, and participants. The end users have ownership over the evaluation so it can be quickly adapted. Participant Oriented Approach Correct Answer Utilization Oriented Approach Question 6 4 / 4 pts Put the CDC Evaluation Framework steps in the correct order. Correct! Step 1 Engage Stakeholders Correct! Step 2 Describe the Program Correct! Step 3 Focus the Evaluation Design Correct! Step 4 Gather Credible Evidence Correct! Step 5 Justify Conclusions Correct! Step 6 Ensure Use and Share Lessons Learned Question 7
2 / 2 pts Which of the following are considered the four CDC Framework standards of evaluation? Select 4 options. Correct! Accuracy Chapter 14, page 315, "...there are four standards of evaluation...the standards provide practical guidelines for the evaluators to follow when having to decide among evaluation options...the four standards are utility.. feasibility...propriety...accuracy." Correct! Propriety Chapter 14, page 315, "...there are four standards of evaluation...the standards provide practical guidelines for the evaluators to follow when having to decide among evaluation options...the four standards are utility.. feasibility...propriety...accuracy." Qualitative Correct! Useability Chapter 14, page 315, "...there are four standards of evaluation...the standards provide practical guidelines for the evaluators to follow when having to decide among evaluation options...the four standards are utility.. feasibility...propriety...accuracy." Quantitative Correct! Feasibility Chapter 14, page 315, "...there are four standards of evaluation...the standards provide practical guidelines for the evaluators to follow when having to decide among evaluation options...the four standards are utility.. feasibility...propriety...accuracy." Question 8 1 / 1 pts Which of the following best describes a pre/post-test evaluation design? Participant knowledge and behaviors are evaluated only AFTER the intervention concludes

Participant knowledge and behaviors are evaluated at REGULAR INTERVALS throughout the program's lifespan Correct! Participant knowledge and behaviors are evaluate PRIOR to the start of the program or intervention, and again at the CONCLUSION of the program Chapter 14, page 320. Participant knowledge and behaviors are not evaluated because the process is deemed too expensive Question 9 1 / 1 pts Which of the following evaluation designs gives evaluators the most control over confounding variables? Non-experimental design Quasi-experimental design Management-Oriented approach Correct! Experimental design Chapter 14, page 320. Experimental design offers the greatest control over confounding factors that may influence outcomes. Question 10 1 / 1 pts Why are control and comparison groups used in evaluation? Control or comparison groups are not used in evaluation
Correct! Control or comparison groups help to determine the effects of the program on an individual Chapter 14, page 320. Control or comparison groups are used to determine the effect the program has on individuals within the study population. Using a control or comparison group prevents ethical violations Control or comparison groups are important to stakeholders and influence funding decisions Question 11 1 / 1 pts True or False. Control and comparison groups should be as similar to the experimental group as possible. Correct! True Chapter 14, page 319. False Question 12 1 / 1 pts What is the primary difference between a "control" group and a "comparison" group? There is no difference between these two groups Correct! Comparison groups are associated with quasi-experimental studies and are similar to the experimental group but taken from another population Chapter 14, page 319.
Control groups include everyone not actively participating in the study regardless of their resemblance to the experimental group Control groups always participate in the intervention or program immediately after the experimental group Question 13 1 / 1 pts What are the primary differences between experimental evaluation designs and all other evaluation designs? Correct! Experimental designs include an element of RANDOM ASSIGNMENT, a CONTROL GROUP, and produce evidence of the intervention's effectiveness Chapter 14, page 320. Experimental designs result in limited control over confounding variables No answer text provided. Experimental designs do not contain comparison or control groups and do not have the same ethical barriers as quasi-experimental and non-experimental designs There is no difference between these designs. Question 14 1 / 1 pts Qualitative data is defined as... A deductive reasoning method that produces NUMERIC data Correct! An inductive reasoning method that produces SOFT data
